MPC Renaissance/MPC Software 1.5 cracks, hisses. Help?

Hi guys!
Today I've noticed something strange about my MPC Software - I was making a beat for like 3 minutes and I started to hear some unpleasent cracks and hisses, it sounded like the sound card was unable to process all the sounds. To fix this I click edit - > preferences and I choose 48000Hz instead 44100Hz. It helps but just for few minutes. After a moment the situation comes back and I have to change the sample rate all over again. Sometimes with the cracks and hisses I have extremely long latency too. Do you know what can be the problem?


/mpc software 1.5 (but same thing on 1.4) win7 64bit, 8gb ram, i7-3612QM @ 2.1GHz/

PS. I use MPC Renaissance as audio interface, don't have any other audio interfaces plugged in

Is it possible that you have your internal audio interface (built in) selected for the recording input? Usually something like this is caused by two different digital audio clocks not matching up properly.

The other thing to double check is that you don't CPU spikes happening. Something could be bogging down your system that you don't know about.
Use your system monitor to watch the CPU when it's happening, see if you can eliminate programs one at a time to see if something is causing the issue. It's also possible that you have some plugin loaded that could be bogging things down...

thanks! I just had to enter my sound options in windows and choose mpc ren as a default for recording and playing. Also turned off other options for recording/playing. Works perfect

I'm having these similar issues. I just updated to a new motherboard, memory and processor so I'm not sure what could be the problem. I've tried the things listed here and it works temporary then goes back to the same issues. It works perfect when I use my M-Audio Delta 1010LT card. I've tried several different things. Uninstalled all audio drivers, re-installed the drivers and the software. disabled all my other audio drivers and my network cards. Disabled USB drivers. I even ran DPC Latency Checker to see if I'm experiencing any latency issues and no latency anywhere. I ran a memory test to see if the ram is bad, no errors there either. I installed the MPC Software on my laptop and check it on there to see if I'm experiencing the issues there and it works flawlessly.

Does anyone else have an idea what could be causing this issue and what I could do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Two things I can suggest:
1. Disable power management for the USB bus.
2. In the BIOS, tune your ram timings to the specified timings.

Also, do not run the Ren off a USB hub if you are. Connect it directly to the computer.

Thanks Hellfire. I did #2 and my Ren is connected directly to the computer. I'll try #1 and see if that will help my problem.

That still didn't help. I've tried every USB port on my computer. I was having the same type issues with ASIO4ALL so I uninstalled that as well to see if that help.

It's just weird. When I first turn on the Ren and load up a file it'll have latency from the jump. I can play it and it then it'll disappear a few mins later and then come back. And it keeps doing that over and over. Hitting the pad softly produces no latency, but hitting it hard produces latency.

When I disable the Akai MPC Renaissance MIDI 2.9.48 driver under sounds in Devices the latency is gone, but my controller also doesn't work until I enable it again. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times. Anything else I can do to correct this issue now that I know it's the mpc dirver?

Did you set the MPC latency control to High Performance in the preferences?

Yep I tried that as well. Not sure what the issue could be other than something is conflicting with that driver. In the meantime I went back to my Delta 1010LT. Thanks for your help fam.

So I finally figured out why my audio was constantly having latency issues. I did a clean install on a different hard drive and installed the drivers one by one until I could reproduce the latency with the Ren. Once I found it I uninstalled it and the issue was gone.

The drivers that was causing the issue was the USB 3.0 drivers I installed when I installed my new motherboard. I'm not sure why it causes an issue. I didn't have the Ren plugged into a USB 3.0 slot. I had it plugged into a 2.0 slot. I believe I'm getting 3.0 speeds from my USB drives that are 3.0, but I still have to do further testing to make sure.

If I'm not getting 3.0 speeds from my 3.0 slots would this be an issue for Akai to solve or for ASUS (my motherboard brand) to solve to be able to use those drivers and not cause any issues with the Ren?
