even the MPC60 used graph meters.. hell even the original SP-12 from 1985 had them...
Ren is on some MS-DOS/Win3.1 BS when NI just dropped iOS7/Mavericks for Maschine users.

clear evidence that ever since Roger Linn left they haven't been able to come up with anything new... they're still using his GUI from the 80's.

Just seems that somewhere Akai got the notion that people wanted to look at the computer screen more so that the Ren screen and it keeps showing up in the workflow.
On a side note I am starting to feel that the Maschine Studio and v2 are going to hurt mkI and mkII Maschine owners worst than the the Ren owners.
The poor Mikro owners should really be crying at v2.
What I'm getting at is there is no way that what you are seeing on the Studio will translate worth a d*mn on the Maschine or Mikro.
IMO anyone planning on embracing v2 and higher should get their checkbook and move to the Studio.
Just looks like much of what's hot on v2 is just not going to happen properly from the older design so you will end up on the computer screen more of even have to start mousing around more.

I have a mk2 maschine but have no plans to buy the studio. While the studio looks nice, I could live with watching everything on monitor instead of the GUI. I think the software upgrade is what really sets this off.

to be fair, the LEDs around the q links represent the meters in the mixer.. same with pan, etc..
the workflow is actually pretty good with it.. mixing and editting pgms.. there's room for improvement of course.
none of that fancy LCD stuff matters THAT much when you do most stuff by ear anyways

in that case you can compare yours more to the maschine or maschine micro.. which doesnt have any of that screen anyways

Well the most important thing is the foundation aka software. I will definitely buy the software update and if that pans out well with my mark 1 maschine then I will get the studio controller which looks like it is on some Star Trek shit! My first impression as I said before and others stated this is how is should be done. Great props to NI. All good for the user.
