ive been making beats since 2003 or 2004
ive used fruity loops (yea, when it was still fruity loops), reason (since 3, now have 6.5), mpc 1k (akai os and paid jjos), sp404sx (still use), maschine (still use) and the Ren
i use a 2008 iMac with 2 gbs of ram.. and 2.4ghz processor
i do a series where i have to do an album every month... and i am able to complete that using the Ren... i also did it with reason,.. with maschine.. with the 404... etc... had fun with them all... but the ren is working great for me now (especially with 1.4 and 1.5)
YES, its had its really annoying qualities.. and YES, its got a ways to go.... but some people are just built to **** and complain.. for real
im done defending the Ren tho... and please, dont say im kissing akai's ass or defending them because i think they're full of shit too.. i'm just sayin Maze.. no.. you're wrong, its not about how much money was spent on it.. i like using it... im not as stubborn as everyone else.. i dont give a shit what i use.. and if i hated the ren or didnt think it was fun.. i would get rid of it.. so you dont for a second think im just bein dumb about this and stubborn like some fools on here.. i just make beats.. and i know for a fact, first hand..that i CAN make music with the ren, i CAN make money with the ren, and i DO have fun when im using it...

anyways. We sometimes get caught up in this virtual world called the internet and forget it is all about making music and creating sound. If we met in person it would be a conversation on showing techniques, records, instruments, and influences. What you are using or not doesn't effect what sound others can get out of it. It is mainly a matter
of preference. Hell form a band or collective for a joint project and create a project. Who cares if one user had a Ren and the other a maschine. As long as the joint is good.

We are producers first and every cat I personally met in person from jazz, rock, dance, hip hop, or whatever we talked about music and techniques for our sound. We never said whatchamicallit was weak or not cuz that cat could school us with his skills on it.
So it was more about how did he do it or the inspiration. I listened to a few tracks
by others on fl, cubase, MV and so on with bangers. Early on it has been about skill
and preferences.

It's a massive bonus having buttons for virtually every function, which is one of the reasons why the 4K is so nice to work with.
