Do I need studio monitors to hear sounds from the mpc or would computer speakers work?

Is there a guide on how I can connect my PC speakers to the mpc? I need an adapter don't I?

Speakers are just speakers. Any cable going from output will carry sound to anything you plugthe other end into.
You will need an adapter. Think intuvitivly, an 1/8" jack for your computer speakers will be too small to fit into a 1/4" hole. So you need to turn the 1/4" hole into an 1/8", by use ofan adapter. W
You can find find them at about any local electronics shop, or if you have Wal-Mart in your country, I would assume they would have them also.
Your mind is a great thing. Sit and look at your problem first and think on it, even test your theorys. If then you have doubts still, asking for help is good.
