G flat minor - chord help

there are four diffrent types of chords ;deduced from major scale:
Majorsevenchords,Minorsevenchrds,Halfdiminishedsevenchrds and the Dominantsevenchords..! Each chord is equivalent to a certain scale ;the scale which builds the chord!!! The term Chord-Scale-Theory arises from the immediate common of Chord and Scale!
Try to understand this system ..its in the C-major scale :

Ionian C,D,E,F,G,A,B III+IV/VII+VIII C,E,G,B I Cmaj7
Dorian D,E,F,G,A,B,C II+III/VI+VII D,F,A,C II Dm7

well it looks like a matrix ,,,i also have to say that it only works for majorscales...if you take Bb major scale first step become Bbmaj7,II=Cm7,III=Dm7,IV=Ebmaj7,V=F7,VI=Gm7,VII=A halfdim7

Fmajorscale:I=Fmaj7,II=Gm7,III=Am7,IV=Bbmaj7,V=C7,VI=Dm7,VII=E halfdim7

on Step I & IV : majorsevenchords!
on step II,III&VI :minorsevenchrds!
V:dominantsevenchrds (should be the mainchord of your songs)
VII:halfdiminishedminorchord !!!

You pick the the root note first, then you pick either a chord of the scale. Its pretty straight forward. This is my music theory class... as of now...

I wish there were four different types of chords lol, there are 100's of chords...but the most important are your maj, min, 7's, 7th's...

Anything else are used for style purposes and enhancing the sound of your song.

When u talk bout chords, flats are good, but its alot better when u learn by intervals...like for example

Gmaj chord: G, 4 notes later B, 3 notes later D
thats 4 intervals then 3

Gmin chord: G, 3 notes later Bb, 4 notes later D

If u follow how many intervals are between each and practice them, you'll learn it alot better...when i'm playin music, playin chords are automatic, doesnt even take me a split second to even think about what notes are in a chord (none the less play it), but thats cuz i know the intervals.

For me, i only go by flats and sharps when i'm tellin sum1 how to play a chord on tha spot or when i'm only playin a melody with solo notes or whateva, but intervals are far more helpful when learning chords. Hope that has helped you out smooth.

but your right though.....in my eyes...i read that i need to definately know my scales and my major/minor chords. then they start gettin real difficult. i went to that site on that link and went thru the list of chords and shi*, damn my head started hurtin. i didnt know where to start. so ill just keep goin at my own speed. thanks phazer!

and your at a good point where you dont have to think about which notes to play in a chord. thats tight! thats how it should be. im tryna learn so i aint gotta think bout it everytime lol. that made me wanna keep goin wit it. good lookin.

the easiest thing to learn is half step theroy.

a halfstep ='s 1 jump to the next key. so like a c to c # = 1 halfstep

a whole step = 2 jumps. so like C to D is a whole step.

now with that in mind ur only dealing with 12 notes.

so if u know the forumula for any scale or chord u can do them from any key.

a major chord is always root note then 4half steps then 3 half steps which =
C then E then G id u started on the C.
anywhere on the keyboard this is alwyas the same

this is a real easy way to learn all ur scales and chords.

go hear and seclect any scale and read its half step formula

then do the forumla from any key.

so for example

2-3-2-3-2 is a egyptian scale. that means from any key if i jump 2 steps then 3 then 2 then 3 then 2 i will have a egyptian scale off any key.
or heres a Mmaj7th chord
3-4-4
any key jump 3 steps then 4 then 4. and tah da.

Np smooth, glad to help out...i've been playin since 4 so that might have helped alot lol...but keep at tha pace you're going, cuz you'll have it down in no time once u get to a certain point...and by the info u already typed on here, seems to me like you're doin real good...and yeah learning the scales are pretty much it...definitely get those scales on lock and you should see a HUGE payoff.
