hi,

i want to start my tracks more spontaneously. the problem is i am a bad finger drummer to jam.
is there a possibility to use the mpc step sequencer like an old drum machine on the fly?

thanks in advance.

the traditional mpc step sequencer does not work in realtime.

some jj models with grid edit might be what you are talking to.

still, turn on quantise and dont worry about it - thats the best part of an mpc

you could also try holding down note repeat (on some models holding note repeat then hitting 'main' will lock it on). this will make sure your hits are on beat.

to further waht tapedeck was saying, if your using the mpc 1k or 2500 with jjos, pushing the timing correct button, then shift at the same time will lock it into that, then when you hold down the pads when you are recording it will tc to that value. its also easy to change the tc value on the fily when recording like this too.
