Anyone ever notice clean subby bass samples on the 60 click in note off mode when you release the pad?

I have a bass sound that always does that.. I've tried all sorts of release settings in the envelope section, as well as different chopping settings. Apart from chopping and fine tuning the note to one specific length, theres nothing I can really do to stop it.

wondering if the s950 would do the same, or if its envelope settings are better.

I dont have this problem on the 3000 with the exact same sound. I've tried transferring the sound via zip to the 60 form the 3000, as well as sampling out of the 3000 in to the 60. seems to be something in the 60 the way it handles low frequencies.

I dont know exactly.. maybe you can try moving the end point (for trimming) down a bit shorter... by small amounts that would be unnoticeable and it could fix the problem... sometimes the area the sample ends in causes clicks on those types of signals.

It clicks because it is non-linear interpolation DRUM sampler, it cuts/ends sound sharp.
You can send that bass line channel via outs to mixer/filter & remove unwanted "click" higher frequency.
Since you like playing bass lines on 60, maybe you should try MFC42 combo.

I had this same problem with the 60. Always got clicks and noise in the release part of the envelope for sub bass sounds. The way it handled sub bass fequencies, which I use a lot, was for me the main reason to switch to the MPC 3000

Just to understand: you have a bass sample on a pad, set it to NOTE OFF hit the pad and relase it and then it clicks even if there isn't a note played after the first note?

IDK what it could be. The bass of the S.Raw tracks sounds cool.

On the 950 there are 2 ways to get clicks with the TONE.
1. When the release is set lower than 20
2. When the bass is set monophonic (routed to 1 out) and the next note cut the note before.

in both cases the wave gets cut abrupt when its either way up in the positive or the negative. Think of the sine wave abruptly cutted at its peak. this is what happen and causes the click.

cant you go in the edit screen and adjust the "end" a bit shorter? not sure what version of the OS you guys have, but I have the old one (2.12 or something) and in the edit sound section on page 2 you can increase the end value which gives a fade.

it's an ADSR type of thing.

otherwise you gotta cut the endpoint of the audio clip a bit shorter or longer.

Have you tried to change the ADSR envelope in another sampler to smooth out the transient and rerecord back into the 60? What OS you on? I think if you smooth out the transient in something like ableton sampler, then find the length of the sound. So if the bass sound is 1.2 seconds make the record time 1.3 so you have a little more ability to smooth out the decay point on the 60. I'll try it for myself when i get home.

In general when I am using drum software like redrum, impulse, spark I mess with the chops on the attack and decay level. That is how the 60 functions so I can rough draft my ideas on the pc before the mpc. Then I record the one shot onto my 60. If it still has other issues with the transient being not too smooth I adjust the ADSR in sampler. Then I add .1 or .2 more seconds of sample time on the 60 to adjust the endpoint.

I'll try what you recommend. But it seems annoying .. Damn, thats bad..

I'm on 3.10.. And I use note off on all samples ( not the drums. )

Have you tried to change the ADSR envelope in another sampler to smooth out the transient and rerecord back into the 60?

I prefer recording straight from vinyl into the 60.. But yea, I can try using the mac 2.. But it's a little more time consuming..

Yeah it's the same thing for me, it's not that strange since the sampler doesn't fade the sound at all at the end when releasing on note off. I had the same problem with the sp1200, but then I used a manual cut-off since it doesn't even have note off. On the sp you can get around it fairly good by adjusting the timing of the cut-off, but in the 60 I never really found a "cure". What I do is either to cut the last bit of "unfinished" wave off for every single bass sound in protools (when I track joints out). Or just put a low-pass filter to make the clicks less prominent. All this is quite annoying in the end, hehe, so that's basically why I recently got a 3000, since I love playing bass but this shit's just too much hassle

Damn so you manually cut bass notes off with an empty notet? What a hassle! haha!
Keep it going with the 3k, lovin those tracks. :smoker: (and hearin those tracks made me want a 3k even more than before!)

I usually just low pass, and adjust end time to let notes finish before the next one hits.

Just coming back to this post 12 years in the future...
Discovered the same issue so I tried routing out the low Frequency sounds to the individual outs via the drum mix which seems to have made an improvement Certainly on the kick sample for sure.
Hope this helps
