I agree with you all partially but this is a day and age where a color screen should be standard IMO. Roland set the standard for this via Fantom G and MV8800 but yet the ball constantly gets dropped on this. I applaud NI for recognizing that its an awesome feature whether cosmetic or functional need. STILL whats most important for now is a stable software...I just hate that if Akai catches on they'll release another controller in the future to piss us off that has these features. IMO the 5000 should have had the color screen as there was clearly up against the MV8000/8800.

I don't know. That Maschine Studio 2.0 looking mighty good. I'm gonna have to cop one of them cause this MPC Ren set me back a few 1000 years and I aint getting any younger. I'll keep the dust cover on this until MPC software Version 15.0 and see if anything gives.

Version-wsie ren is only .5 versions behind, at current rate should take another year before paid update to ren 2.0

I'll be picking up new maschine before as well

Roland focused on the LCD of the Fantom G but then dropped the ball on the software....big time. Korg tried to 'do the damn thing' with the Kronos....but you need a stylus and a magnifying glass to program the Kronos.

Was the first thing that stood out to me on the Ren.

I finally decided that since they were saying 1.5 runs pretty good and the price I can get one for to give the Ren another try.
With all this talk about the screen and Maschine Studio in general we know Akai is probably working on a RenII which may or may not be in their best interest.

With their current pattern of early discontinuance of products would they create new controller and drop the old or continue to try and support both?
Seems like it would greatly deplete their resources to support 4 controllers if they made a dramatic hardware change.
Yet if they aren't going to make a dramatic hardware change they should stick with the current controllers and just turbo charge the software.

I guess I will get a least a year of support and usage out of the Ren before the real risk of Grande Holdings kicks in.
