Come on now! What he did was FINISH the beat in 20 minutes, not make. Making a beat means starting with the drum machines tempo still at 90, no sounds loaded yet, no sequences created. He didn't show cats how to chop up the sample and then try to make it fit in a certain tempo. And don't forget, you first have to find and record the sample/s you want to use. That is making a beat and in most cases it can't be done in 20 minutes, especially with samples of old music that consisted of all live instruments. When you sample music with live instruments, all of your samples aren't always gonna have the same exact tempo for the fact that it is very hard for a human to keep the exact same speed through out a whole live song. Therefore, all the samples aren't gonna always loop correctly right away. Then you're gonna have to time stretch the sample to get the loop to sound as natural as possible. Then you add your percussion and bass. This is what making a beat is and any real producer knows that. I hate how he made it seem so easy and quick. Like someone else said, he probably had the bass line already created and just replayed it for the camera. You have to be a pianist or at least know your notes to be able to just sit down and play a bass line that quick and the notes match and it are in tune with the sample. And remember, he didn't tune the keyboard. It must have just coincidently be the exact same tune as the sampled music, which barely works out. Shit, he probably even had the drums memorized. It's not that easy!
