v1.5: Ultra-tight integration with Native Instruments' plugi

MPC Ren/Studio can browser the presets of your favorite plugin if your plugin supports program change.

By default, Native Instrument's Massive doesn't make its presets available to the MPC Software. But after a few steps...you will be able to audition different patches of Massive all from the MPC Ren/Studio controller.

1. Open the MPC Software
2. Insert Massive on a Plugin Track
3. Open Massive's GUI; click the [Browser] tab
4. Click the button to the left of 'PC' to enable the Program List
5. Drag-n-drop presets on the left into the Program List on the right

Results - the presets that you add to the Program List will be immediately available to the MPC Software.



Just a little gem for those that do more than just sit around and talk about about MPCs all day.

Can you automate those q-link parameters ? Or can you still only automate qinks in a program attached to ONe pad, with vsts / fx automation?

The reason I ask is seeing all those parameters on the q links would be dope and great for editting but it would really shine when it comes to automation

When you pull up a Massive preset, you can map the 16 Qlinks in Main Mode to any of the params made available. In Program Edit Mode, Massive is automapped to 96 Qlinks. You can record Qlink knob movements into the MPC Sequencer.

If you use a plugin that supports host automation of it's internal FX param (as opposed the the MPC Software's interal or 3rd party Insert/Send FX), you can map them to Qlinks as well.

so you have to go to the q links page and assign a specific q link to a specific parameter? guess that works too

it'd be cool if you could like.. press record.. hold shift, and just move the knob while in the parameter page to record the automation change.. something like that (similar to how the "auto" key works on maschine) much quicker

You should explore it more. You have two options...Program Edit or Qlink Mode:

As soon as a plugin is inserted on a track, you press [Program Edit] button and all 96 Qlinks are assigned/automapped to Massive already. If you press [Record] any time you move a Qlink, it is recorded as automation in the sequence. I really can't see how Akai can make this faster.

Additionally, there are Qlinks in Main Mode which you can set-up in Qlink Mode from the hardware. These are not automapped.

Hmm I guess I do need to explore that then. I coulda sworn I've tried that with no luck , but ill check it out tomorrow. I thought plugin automation was a common feature request ? Thanks for the info

Plugin 'instrument' automation has always worked. Plugin 'FX' automation is not currently implemented and a popular feature request.

It's recording it that doesn't work.

he's right - it DOES work when you're trying to record automation in an instrument VST , but no FX VSTs.. strange, i would think they'd focus on it the other way around first (since for ME most automation is usually done in the FX world, not the parameters of an instrument)

what im getting at though jah is the be able to automate anything (like with the auto key on machine)

IE - say i wanna do a filter sweep - press play, press pgm edit, then go click all (lol, still cant do from hardware) - press record - use Q14 to record a filter sweep - DONE

instead of setting up and assigning q links in the q link page - which im still having trouble figuring out how to assign a q link to a whole program

It just so happens that Massive has it's own filters (as does many plugins). The Qlinks are already mapped to these filters so you can do filter sweeps until your heart is content. Additionally, many plugins have builtin FXs or can use 3rd party effects. Depending on that plugins capabilities, you can map the Qlinks to those FX params. I can easily map the Qlinks to Battery 4's FX.
