Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

My slider needs replacement and I will get round to it shortly (or my friend with steady hands and soldering skills will, my clumsy sausages won't be going in there)

Model :2000XL 1.4

Problem: Variation Slider signal is jumping even without being touched. Stuck flicking between 4 and 5.

Current solution : I control the slider via one of the pots on a midi controller and it is perfect whilst actively being used, once I stop twiddling the slider will send a signal and reset to 4 or 5 and start slicking between the two until I override with the controller.

In the mean time (till I get this fixed), is it possible to deactivate the slider within the OS?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, Seems like the problem may have been temporarily solved for now a good blast of air in a can managed to dislodge what may have been some conducting dust on the broken slider connections.

It still doesn't work but its at least stationary and no longer overriding the Midi knob control. (I think if the value changes at all it overrides the midi input if its stationary nothing happens)

But if anyone knows the answer to the question above I would still love to know.

(* actually that was also incorrect, it seems to be possibly heat related, it starts to jump between 4 and 5 every 1/4 second or so after being on for 10 mins or so)

You can solve the issue by set the parameters of high an low to be 0.

1. Press NOTE VARIATION/AFTER button (I hope this button on your MPC is still wokring!)
2. Set "Pitch" and set both low and high ranges to "0"

Now, no matter the slider position would be, the value won't jump around.

But, if this doesn't work. then you can apply small amount of glue (such as Crazy Glue) IN the pot (where slider's conductive part and the board actually contact!) so that slider won't move at all, therefore it won't replace the value from MIDI controller. You are replacing the pot anyway.

Thanks for the tip, i've given it a go and no joy, the problem is obviously that the slider track is messed up i'll have to fully remove it as it currently always overrides my lazy solution to getting it replaced which was the MIDI override.

But the time has come for either removal or replacement or temp removal followed by replacement, maybe have to get that CF reader as well while i'm at it and finally get rid of this pile of ZIPs!

Thanks
