Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Maschine rarely comes up for discussion at Akai unless we're talking about Skittles, or painting the kid's room.

N.I. just played a game of Chess with Akai. Akai released the MPC Element, and N.I. said "Checkmate" with the Maschine Studio. Now i bet Akai is like :hmmm: lol. Lets be real here the only reason why Akai is slashing the prices on the Ren is because they cant compete with the Maschine Studio which means your losing in the battle right now. Releasing the MPC Element with its own software in my opinion was a step backwards for Akai. This whole Maschine and MPC battle is like iPhone (MPC) and Android (Maschine). MPC is going to have its fan boys and stay the same for years, while Maschine keeps innovating the technology.

And yes i currently have the MPC Studio and Maschine MK1. I ditched the Maschine MK1 because i hated the mixing on it (No visual Faders), and i been using MPC studio since its release. Now i might be going back to Maschine because they LISTENED to the people and added a Mixer on it (faders). CHECKMATE

Hey Pete, when you saw the Maschine Studio, didn't you feel a rush of ideas running through your head to make the Ren untouchable?

Just asking because thats how I get when I see someone that can top me at the moment. Competition brings out the warrior in our craft.

Stop looking into things and just do it.

sure, I look at a new product (not necessarily Maschine) and get ideas from it.
Our goal is to constantly improve the Ren with features, better workflow, bug fixes, etc. We're never lacking ideas, the challenge is to do them right.

Forgive my ignorance. Will someone please define "Global Mixing"?

Right now you're not able to mix while you're creating a beat because every sequence has it's own mixer. Some of us (I'd like to say most of us) would want every sequence to use the same track mixer. Forum came up with the term "global mixer".

Pete, give us some hope on the mixer side of things! You guys are being awfully quite on this topic...

Hi Pete

do you think that we will have in future times an template editor for the REN like Maschine with the Controller Editor has....the midi controller mode in the REN is ok, but I would also prefer to use my REN as an universal controller without open the MPC software. Or you can program an application ?

I'll pass it along to the team.

October is a typical release date month. If I recall correctly there was a significant update and even maybe hardware release last october too right?

mpc_fiend wrote:1. yes indeed akai are completely incompetent when it comes to releasing software, especially on commitments...hence the need for IMMINENT BS (poor mpc5k users who didnt even get any imminence - nuff said)

Say WHAT??!!!..  they software was READY, signed and Sealed...but they were afraid to release the date . you cant be serious :Sigh: :Sigh:

2. my point on realeasing buggy software is....why release software on 1st of october if you KNOW of bugs in it.....about an hour after it was available you open a topic with several known bugs...your on the beta tester team, right? so i guess you found these buys already
id prefer a release 15th of oct with the known bugs resolved....now all of you users will have to wait for namm for the next version

3. you are missing the point entirely, my fault, i should have been more clear...by 'own' i mean show up akai to be amatures when it comes to marketing, releasing a product, valuing thier customers yada yada.....first of all they released a product WAY before it was ready, a year later theres still a discussion about the legendary mpc3k circuitry...iconic workflow of the mpc ren (WITH A MOUSE), the vintage plugin fiasco (still ongoing for the studio users), transferring the license, elements being a rehashed product with a lousy interface.as for the mixer....well you know.

dont get me wrong...this is the best thing that could have happened for the Ren users since whack eye needs to step up their gaming skills...something they havent really been doing lately...as indicated by the Elements fiasco where andrew makes a 20 min video churning out the same gel-boy ICONIC LOOK AND FEEL BUZZWORDS hes been using for a year.
although i must admit in a way i look forward to namm...i wonder what lies daniel and andrew and can come up with this time - the ren being completey bug free being one of my favourites. SMH.

so to sum up....in regard to this thread.....no one really cares if whack eye had planned to release this on oct 1st....they care about it being a stable product which they can use

i disagree with you on the point there will always be bugs.....most software i use doesnt crash and has very little to no bugs....i guess i am using MATURE software.

DJ Hellfire wrote:they hate to see on here! Dan was actually going to allow the forum to be told after IMSTA but was reminded what happened with the last release promise that didn't happen!

2. There's always gonna be bugs. Luckily this time, there are no major ones!

3. Someone's always gonna "own" the older product with a new product. Every time a new product comes out, someone claims it "owns" the older one!

The "truth" is, NI woulda been completely **** stupid to NOT put out something that was a good competitor for the Ren or something that was equal to their previous line, given their experience especially. They already did this with the MK2 controller! At the end of the day, the Studio is still going to have the Maschine workflow. So ultimately it will still come down to whether you prefer the Maschine workflow or the MPC workflow. Everything else is just bells and whistles!

1. Yes, if a showstopping bug was found after the release date was announced, then they'd have to cancel the release and people would be mad. Release dates aren't always announced for this reason, as shown with 1.3. Even Pro Tools 11 wasn't announced. The shit just came out! This is not uncommon.

2. I tested 1.4, not 1.5. Please don't make assumptions when you don't have all the facts. That is pretty much why this thread exists in the first place!

3. In that case this makes your comment even more pointless! NI has always had better marketing than Akai. Everyone already knew that. You're saying it like announcement of the Studio makes Akai's marketing any worse than it already is! Everything you mentioned has been said over and over. Maschine Studio doesn't make this information about Akai new nor worse. People already know it's bad!

Obviously people care about the planning of the release since everyone keeps screaming Akai rushed 1.5 only because Studio was announced.

LMAO at calling them Daniel and Andrew!

You apparently agree with me about the bugs since you claim your software has "very little to no bugs"! Very little bugs falls under the software having bugs! Ren 1.5 has very little bugs and has yet to crash on me (fingers crossed ). You can obviously see the few bugs I reported are extremely minor and hardly affect usability! I've had Maschine for two years now, and while it is EXTREMELY stable, there are still some bugs. There's never gonna be 100% bug free software, especially with the millions of different computer hardware configurations!!

oh ok so it wasnt ready on the 29th, since they were still testing it for show stopper bugs. Youve just contradicted poor ol Daniel (see op). I think I will buy him some eyeliner for Christmas, hes had a really tough year. Maybe some turbo wetlook Gel for Daniel. I'm in a good mood.

my bad - i missed your post about leaving the REN Team cos of JANs bullying :(

ok we both agree whack eye sUck but lets not mention it any further and pretend they dont. :Sigh:

you apperently dont realise that software is a generic term applying to computer programS . when i say MOST of my Software has very little OR NO BUGS....it means nearly every application I use does not have bugs or should I say, i do not encounter any in the way i use them.
I presume the reason very little bugs have been reported thus far (give it time lol)..is because most of the 23 users have sold their Rens on ebay after the NI announcement.
Oh and by the way, I dont cross my fingers when using my computer :-D

conversation is now over...for fear of making petey think its a conspiracy :WTF:

Apart from all the hyperbole and nonsense (akais and NI s advertising) that i think we can all agree is uncalled for,i think as a user/abuser of music gear we can be happy (at least show some satisfaction)that both these companies (its a conspiracy )are making a big effort to provide a very usable/cruise-able (?) product.Who cares when it was released and why ectect.LO L

(if there is a problem just mail akai or jah or keep on posting acres or crap across this forum :WTF: )

You have to think about what you just said, with common sense! Try not to think too hard. When you beta test software, you use the software like any other customer. When they think it may be ready for release, the testers are given a release candidate version, similar to Apple's Gold Master releases, and continue testing. If these are good. Then Akai will plan a release. Just because they decide on a release date doesn't mean I just stop using the software! I keep using it until it's released to the public on their planned date. Even though it's set for release, any beta tester can still find a bad bug that mat hault the public release! I don't undertstand why this is hard for you to understand! :hmmm:

OK! I let you twist that one up as much as you like! You apparently don't realize that software works with thousands of different hardware configurations and people use it different. This is why bugs are missed or why some users experience bugs that others do not. The hardware is different and the users are different. This is why, for example, not everyone had an issue with the firmware update. :Sigh:

Please humor me on one thing, though! If you aren't a Ren/Studio user, and you feel Akai is wack, why even bother posting here? I could never imaging my self over at the Burger Kangs forum and telling the 23 Beat Thang users how much the product and company sucks! I'd rather be on a forum discussing the products I DO use or just in my studio using them! Oh let me guess, you're here because it's a free country and it's your right?!
