unplug the device from your computer.

reboot the computer.

plug the device back in.

download the standalone firmware update from akais site.
perform the update following the instructions.

start mpc software.

If it still doesn't work report back here.

MeSoHordey is right.
I had software version 1.5 already, and today I updated the Firmware.
I strictly followed the instructions and in a few minutes,
it was done.
No problem here.

It still doesn't work. Four hours later.

All I get is this window spinning non stop. (With my finger holding the Shift button forever...)

Thanks, though!

So once again, after downloading (it's literally been 100,000 times since yesterday), I have 4 lit pads, and a hardware that is unusable.

And everytime I launch MPC Software, I get the Firmware out of date window.

I even get that sometimes:

And it's attached!

It finally worked for me. Unfortunately, my workaround only works for people having more than one computer.

The Firmware Updater didn't work on my MacBook Pro, so I installed it using my iMac.

I installed the MPC 1.5 software and driver on my iMac. I ran the Firmware updater on the iMac. I followed the instructions. It worked.

I really hope that all of you who are still struggling with this issue will be able to use this superior machine (irony here) once again (serious and real empathy here).

That is pretty awesome of you to post your solution. It might help someone else.

I have a serious question? Do I really need to download and install the new firmware? I'm really not trying to have my ren act up. My stock REN is working fine with software v1.5.

What are the Pros to the new firmware? I don't get it...

Thanks in advance

just guessing - i bet it has to do with the ability to use the software with the ren disconnected?

i dont know, thinking twice that doesn't make much sense, but that is definitely a hardware bound function and the firmware is updating the hardware only...would be worth to test out.

No, the software update is for the disconnection of the hardware.

The firmware update is for the 16 level stuff and other.

Well I did it on the my computer.
I updated the software the day it was released.
Only on the comp, without the hardware attatched.
I could work the software in standalone mode.
2 days ago i updated the firmware with the Ren attached.

Works Good.

I am well and truly stuck.

I'm doing everything it tells me to do.

1. Run the update with the Ren attached and powered on.
2. Remove the USB cable and turn off the Ren.
3. Plug the USB cable back in.
4. Power up the Ren holding down shift.

When I do this, the Ren's display is blank and just one pad (Pad 1) is lit yellow.

5. Click start update (while still holding down shift on the Ren).

Then another box appears.

1. Tells me to let go of the Shift key on the Ren.
2. Tells me to turn off the Ren.
3. Tells me to wait 5 seconds.
4. Tells me to turn the Ren back on.

The Ren's display shows "MPC" as normal, there are no pads lit at all.

5. Tells me to click "OK" and start the update.

I can see the update being sent vis the software, but nothing happens on the hardware.

I then get this message:

Image

I turn the Ren off and on again and run the MPC Software.

It tells me to update the firmware as it's still at the original version.

I bought this Renaissance last Thursday, it's brand new.

Is there anyone out there who can help?

I saw someone mention here that a new updater is in the works, can that be officially confirmed?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

What kind of computer you are on.?
Most problems occur with mac users.

See the DTSR thread with his problems and how he resolved it.
