No. Sadly, I do not have access to another computer.

I did hear a rumour that this update was causing trouble for people who have Mac's with USB3 ports, but I really can't confirm that to be true at all.

I notice it said the updater app was updated on Oct. 8th. Does anyone still have the original Oct. 2nd version that I could try?

I bought the ren two days ago and have been trying to get the firmware update to work since then! Tried on my pc and laptop which were both windows 7. It went through the whole process fine but as soon as i launched the mpc app, a pop up would appear saying the firmware is out of date. Last night i tried it on another laptop running vista and it worked. The bottom pads light up. Took a few more attempts, on the final go i had the qlink knobs going crazy. The pads and qlinks turned off and mpc appeared on the screen. Hope they sort this out whenever the next firmware is released as i cant be going through that again!

I've followed all instructions on how to prepare my REN for the firmware update on my iMac, but whenever I click on the updater, I get a message saying (I'm paraphrasing) "this firmware is damaged, please move to trash". Anyone else having this problem??

I did my firmware update and ran into nearly ever problem here lol.

I had problems on windows 7 but ended up getting it going by removing every! USB device on my macosx machine. I had to use a Bluetooth mouse because my normal mouse has a USB dongle.

After removing all usb devices the update ran smooth and only took 2min to complete.

Been trying to update firmware for two days now, no success. Followed all instructions,
even got the message "update has been sent, you may need to restart device....etc" but then when i launch the mpc software, i still get the prompt telling me my firmware is not up to date. I go to preferences/hardware and see that I'm still at the old firmware. I'm lost

I followed the instructions letter by letter to update the firmware (the new Midi Updater), and no success, Now I ended up with a useless device With 4 pads lit up Pad1 Red, Pad2 Green, Pad3 Green and Pad4 orange. The main LCD is empty blue. The MPC software don't recognize the hardware anymore!!!!! WHAT TO DO???? REALLY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!! I've updated the device around 40 times with no success... Please help me!!! The support link on akai's page http://www.akaipro.com/kb/article/1516 don't work either...

I think i've found the solution!!! YAAAAAAAAAYH!!!!

1. Start the MPC Software in 32-bit mode.
2. Run the MIDI Update Tool and follow the on-screen pop-up instructions (in the new installer) and when it tells you to restart the device, do the following.
3. Close the MPC Software
4. Turn off the MPC hardware
5. Turn on the MPC hardware
6. Start the software (tada, now go check the firmware version under preferences - hardware - show hardware info)
7. DONE!!!

THink it was the 32-bit mode on the MPC software that did the trick...

Wish you all good luck!! (I've contacted AKAI support but no answer, went to the local reseller and found out that I got guarantee left, but i thought i would give it some more tries before i send it to akai in Sweden, and boom it worked)

For me on windows 7 64bit the update was getting stuck at locating mpc and I just pulled out the usb lead and plugged it back in again without turning it off and it ran fine from there... and I think I disabled windows defender before starting..

I didn't want to make a brand new thread so I figured this was an ok place to write my thoughts. I am a legacy MPC user, or at least I was. I got a 2000XL in 2001 or so. I made beats happily on that thing right up until about 2008. I got introduced to software during that time, like Ableton and Pro Tools etc. I didn't like Ableton or software for that matter back then but thats not my point here. I stopped making beats when I joined the Army and sold my MPC 2000XL. Fast forward a few years to 2012. I picked up a used 2500 on EBay because it looked dope when it first came out. I had a little trouble with the workflow on it, for whatever reason so I sold it after a year. After another year I had been contemplating getting the Ren or the Studio. In the meantime I bought a used NI Maschine Mikro for cheap. I had a hard time with the Mikro. I wasn't used to it at all. I'll be honest, I got frustrated and just shut the thing off after a little while. So my Mikro got shelved. Now, point of my story, I've been trolling this forum and had been reading all the frustrations with the Ren and the software updates. I just bought a MPC Studio tonight, and fiddled with it and for some reason it just made more sense to me than Maschine. And that is not a diss to Native Instruments, it just did't click with me. So, I decided to brave the 1.5 update and low and behold I had not a one issue with the update. Am I the only one on the internet that has had a good first impression with the MPC Studio and software? Granted I am not hours deep into this thing, but my basic functions are good to go. Anyone?

I bought another Studio this week after selling my REN a few months back, and I didn't have any trouble updating the firmware. I DID have trouble with the Bank DVD not working, but that's another well known issue.

I tried doing the update on my PC and my Mac and the and it will not take. It says the update has been applied but when I launch the MPC software its not updated.

Any help will be appreciated. I have tried this 4-5 times on both platforms and it is not working.

OK, now I have 4 pads lit. Red, Green, Green, Yellow.

MPC is not responding.

This is ridiculous!
