Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Seems a dumb question and i apologize from mobile phone. Is it normal for my mpc2000 to only discard sample start and end points only once per sample? Because if i try it twice it doesnt perform as expected

it's not normal, but it happens...

sometimes there is a thing with the chopping.

I think there are a few things that fix it.. like saving the sound, and reloading it... or copying it and deleting the original.

also, you could just do that once... if you need piles of chops, use the "create new sample with selected" option... then the very last one you could do the delete the ends style one.

Ok, ive actually tried that. Save to disk and reload still doesnt want to discard for some reason.
Anyone else care to chime in?

listen, it's a bug.... nobody has a code to fix it.

you gotta do things like "turn selected into new sample" (i forget the exact name of that) .... but you select the whole sample with the start and end points.... this clears the sample from that issue... delete the original. then you can do it again. that is the type of thing you must do to get it to work.

Change your workflow before it becomes a bad habit.

I wouldn't even really call it a bug, it's more like they didn't see a reason why you would discard more than once.
Discard is more about getting rid of what you know you won't use, any thing else is done more from the point of chopping, duplicating etc.

You need to work the way the machine works or get something else, save yourself the headaches.

Gentlemen, no reason to get huffy.. I was just curious if that how it was supposed to operate. I didn't notice anything in the manual about it, and searching the net and mpc-forums didn't come up with an answer either. I admit im definitely a newbie though. Thank you for your time!

I know that issue but with my 2000 classic it doesn't happen regulary and also doesn't have anything to do how many times I want to discard a part of the sample. I can load up a drumloop and trim something from the start and the something from the end and then again from the end or whatever and it works but then next time the described issue suddenly happen although I trim only 1 time.
It also work for me If I copy the sample or save it, delete the original and load up the saved one again.

Yes! But when you chop up a long sample with this method do yourself a favor and name the original like "Samplename_PRT0" or "PRT0__Samplename". By doin this you just have to increase the number when you copy a zone out of it to a new sample and everything is organized and you dont have to name every single sample again.

peace

Sorry if you misread me, I was trying to point you in a direction that would yield less headache.

definitely have run into this before... I ended up with a different order of events but I think I remember it might even have something to do with the loop point settings(?)

i have this issue with the 2000. it will discard my end but not my beginning. since you can only get each sample to fully discard on first try, copy the sample as many times as you need and get your regions tight on each copy. make your beat or whatever til you get it locked in. then before you save go back to trim and just go thru all the samples and discard the ends.

or znedit.
