I am wondering if when using the element with a Daw, does it have to be locked to the daws sequencer? I want to use the npc song mode exclusively to create. So would two mpc instances lock together in the essentials song mode?? thanks

Also what is the track up and down buttons for? Can you toggle thru the mpc essentials instances in your Daw via the controller?

No, not locked to DAW. The MPC Essentials is a standalone program which can also be used with your DAW as a VST plugin. So as a plugin you can run as many Instances as you like in your DAW, But not two within MPC Essentials itself.

Also what is the track up and down buttons for? Can you toggle thru the mpc essentials instances in your Daw via the controller?

Track up and down, Just let you go up an down of samples loaded in your track in MPC Essentials.

As for Toggle, this is abit trickier if you have instances open with in your DAW. You can hit a "home key" on the controller to open MPC Essentials. But if in the DAW without VST plugin not loaded Nope.

Thanks for the info. I guess what i am hoping for is to still use the mpc sequencer even when using the software in a DAW. I dont want to get it if when running it in a DAW you are dependent on the DAWS way of sequencing. Because that just defeats the purpose and that just makes the Element a midi controller.

You can still the mpc sequencer as a VST plug-in while using your DAW.

Thanks. But only one instance right? sorry if it doesnt make sense. If i can open three instances of essentials in Logic, then have all three instances sequenced together via the mpc's sequencing that would be dope. But i dont think its possible

OK keep in mind am I newbie and don't have a full understand of all the terms & names.

That said, you sure can. Say your drum layout is instance 1. Then you do snares and claps for instance 2 and so on. your plugin will show you mpc track 1, and mpc track 2 and so on for every instance you make.

I'm trying to get this video uploaded. Maybe it will be helpful as well in your buying choice. I like my unit a lot I just think it need some fine tuning as with anything that is new.

Well here is my review, I did it quick and fast. So I know I will have to redo it. But you can more or less get what I'm saying.
