MULTI-TRACK RECORDER/DIGITAL MIXER QUESTION??

How would I go about connecting a multi-track recorder/digtal mixer to
Pro Tools? Where would I connect my 8 outs from my MPC to? I want to be able to control each track from my mixer. Any advice???

I am not clear on what you are asking. PT is a multi-track recorder/digtal mixer, so it sounds like you are asking "how to connect a multi-track recorder/digtal mixer to a multi-track recorder/digtal mixer".

Send the outs of the HDr ecorder to the Digi hardware. what u got 001/002

I'm having trouble explaining what I want to do here. Have you ever seen a mixer that has the channels labeled KICK, SNARE, and so on? That's what I'm trying to do. I'm pretty sure the 8 outs of the MPC have to be plugged into the mixer. Now what I'm confused on is where does Pro Tools come in. Cause normally I see Pro Tools in the setup. I just don't know what it's being used for. Thanks for the help.

Actually, if anyone has the SCRATCH magazine with Kanye on the cover, you can kind of see what I'm talking about if you look at the Jazze Pha article on pg.88 and the DJ Scratch on pg.112 (read the 2nd paragraph)

Hmmm, Im all confused now....Those are labels you put on the mixer. U set it up the way u like. Since u got the 8 out board, give each instrument its own channel. Kick on 1...Snare on 2 etc

The outputs on your HD rec can then be connected to your 001 rack and recorded into protools

Protools is a software program used to record and mix Midi & Audio. A bit like your HD recorder (Just a bit more advanced). You have the option of doing your recording/mixing in your HD recorder then burning to CD or you can use protools to bounce your audio channels 8 at a time into protools. From there you do any changes and additional production (Mixing etc)
C'mon man, you should know this....

Sound like you dont even know what u gotta use Protools for....Hit the Digidesign site
