ok so here is my problem....my mpc was fine a few days ago...but a few days ago i woke up....turned it on and went to sample....0.0 seconds sampling time....so i removed my 16mb of memory and cleaned it....put it back in and bam it was working again. so i wake up today and turn it on and blam...0.0 seconds of sampling time again. so i removed the 16mb and looked at the lil golden teeth on the ram and one of them looked like it was all scuffed up....so i took it out completely and closed the mpc back up and fired it up....still 0.0 seconds of sampling time.....now correct me if im wrong but isnt there factory 2mb of memory installed on the motherboard?? shouldnt i have 2mb of memory....so i did shift 5 then shift f1 then memory check.....it says 0mwords...then it says slot 1 okay...slot 2 okay...slot 3 ok...did cpu check and said it was fine. what is going on here>>>?? is my mpc kissed. all other functions open fine...work fine...its not lagged out or slow....all windows open....no other problems but this main sampling memory issue. i haveliterally tried eveything and ordered new ramm thats on the way. even tho im guessing it wont work because its not even detecting the 2mb of stock memory. please help

its weird i pulled out the 16mb memory and took a close look at the lil gold teeth and it seems like one was just a lil dirty...so i scuffed up the gold tooth a bit and slipped it back in and bam....it reads it again. but that still doesnt explain why the stock memory didnt show up>>>>>weird

Yes it does if the same dirt was on the contacts in the machine as well making it see insertion even when no ram was installed.
It could have made the unit think ram was installed thus voiding access to the internal

Ok so I bought new memory 32mb installed it and bam...0.0 seconds. So I shut it off and turned it back on several times and 1 in every ten times it reads the memory. Motherboard?!?! What do you guys think. Should I reinstall 1.20?

Re-install the OS again, and then you'll know if it's a problem with the main board. The RAM socket could possibly have a loose solder joint, which would explain why it's not recognized all the time.
