Mpc1000 Motif6 and Mo Phatt Help

Alright, i have a question about these 3 pieces but first i'll tell how i have them set-up.
i have it connected like this:
Mpc midi out A connected to motif midi in
Motif midi out connected to Mpc midi In 1
also
Mpc midi out B connected to Mo Phatt midi in
Mo Phatt midi out connected to Mpc midi In 2
i have the audio of the motif and the mo phatt connected to a mixer, then the mixer's output is connected to mpc record in, then the mpc's audio output is connected to the speakers.
On the main screen of mpc, i set the track type to Midi(instead of drum) and where it says Midi i put 1A(to record the motif)...i can record onto the track and hear the sounds from the motif play but when i go to Mode *Pad 5*Record, i can still hear the motif playing but there is no audio to record, so i can't sample it. this is my problem
I am able to control the mo phatt sound with the motif when i set it up on the main screen (such as Type: Midi and 1B) and im able to record that audio in Mode Pad 5 Record and make a wav file from it.
My problem is- I can't record the motif sounds in Mode Pad5 Record(to make a wav. file)
My question is- Why!?
I've tried searching and read a few different posts about questions people had with these exact same pieces of gear but i really couldnt find an answer to my question. Thank you guys in advance.
also, not sure if it'll help but i'm running free JJOS and it is Version 3.16

What mixer are you using, type/make/model/etc.?

Are the mixer channels for the Motif and the Mo Phatt setup exactly the same?

If the main mixer output is going into the MPC, and the mixer channels are set the same, then you should get both Motif and Mo Phatt into the MPC, and to your speakers.

Are your speakers connected to the output of the MPC, or to the output of the Mixer?

Sorry, i should have mentioned that.
The mixer I'm using is a Behringer Xenyx 502
On the mixer, I have audio from motif going into line in 1 and mo phatt into line in 2
The mixers main out is going into "Record In" on the mpc and the mpc's output is going directly into the speakers.
I just barely got it all working though...
I unplugged all chords and plugged them back in as a sort of a last resort and now when I'm on the mpc in "Mode Pad5 Record" I can see that I'm able to record the audio from both the mo phatt and the motif.
The thing that scares me now is I don't know why it didn't work the first time. Now I don't even want to touch the wires in the back. Lol
