Snap shot of full mix or just certain tracks at the click of a button is pretty good for doing multiple mix takes in one project. You can use this small extension and add a lot of functionality to reaper. Its pretty slick and is donation ware to.
I find it very useful and though I am just learning it so far, it seems very powerful addition to reaper. here is there page

cool, yeah I think its a very good addition and there is a lot of new functions for Reaper added. I like Reaper, it is stable and just works fine, and with this it is just as good as any DAW that is 10 times the price it seems to.
This is first time i am using it to, so still learning. Tempo mapped a project to a imported track, but that was a bit huh at first but all good now. I need to get interface for sound recording, but can import of desk, and it will be better to have sound and midi set up together of course, but have only used it with midi a little. OS3 and some theory mens I do not really need to edit midi in reaper, but am thinking of getting it synced so I can record long sessions of keyboard jams and then export out after pulling out the bit i like.
And yes it does multiple channel midi export, which is great compared to lives clips
I am sold, and not sure if there is anything missing compared to logic or Digital performer. not with sws added anyways.

those guys are excellent. sws resources is another great function.

**** yes. the colour / icon options and double click editing for some parameters now is really nice.

and they are free, how great are SWS!

have you fooled around with action markers?

if you get an action ID (you can find it in the action list), you can enter it into a marker and the action is run when your play cursor hits the marker!!

for example, create a marker and edit it. name it !1016
this is the ID command for "Stop."
now the song will stop playing when it hits the marker.

haha i would try set it up so every 16 bars you get this pop up............

i use the marker mainly for text - i send all my projects to another guy who masters / mixes my final compositions. He uses reaper too, so as i go through my mixes i make notes, then he can read them on his end when the track plays past the marker. Great way of communicating ideas, of highlighting parts in the mix that i couldnt fix :)

90 percent of people i reccomend reaper to always end up using it. Especially for peeps just getting into multitrack recording.. clients i record, i usually try and sell them the fact that they can start recording themselves and i can mix it for them provided you send me the project.. (hiphop voks dudes .. rappers!!! haha)

Everycrash i have had(if any) have been with 3rd party vsts.. Its never crashed when i have used it with its own plugs ..

I love using regions as arranging with them is really easy to shuffle stuff around when you have large track counts.. and that sws region reorder function is awsome.

With a combination of midi commands/markers assigned to actions i've set up mp1k to track each mpctrack out one by one into reaper on seprate reaper tracks with one button press.. jjos mp and reaper is such a ultimate combo..

Stem Export from hard ware to reaper..

You really notice how good reaper is when you are forced to use one of the other daws for wat ever reason, and can really appreciate how damn good it is...

cool! all using the main outs, too? just automates a longer process instead of trying to use the individual outs. could you describe what you did?

I haven't done it for a while so its all from my memory and dont have the setup up in front of me. I should do a vid !!!!I actually haven't use marker actions for this.. haa i lie!! Midi actions only...

There's a few prerequisites.
Obviously need a audio interface that has midi and audio .. and you are using both in and out midi inputs.

On mpc set it so that the "track next" is set to a incoming midi note.. (remember what it is for reaper) So this method works by doing each track. not pad.(use can just use pad to track function though)

It only works in main mode because of the above step. (convert song to sequence)

You need to know the total bar length and add extra 1 bar for start and at end. set reaper to slave to external sync. also match the tempo of mpc. Then set reaper loop locators to match mpc seqence( This what i couldn't really remeber if i need too set loop locators since reaper is syncing via ssp )

(Create a midi track in reaper to send to mpc The midi note and channel that is assigned to "track next" Right at the end of your sequence..)

make sure solo is on on the mpc on first track .

Create a audio track in reaper to record/track your audio and arm it.

Create a midi out track in mpc. (make this track last as this runs a midi action in reaper . It can be a simple stop record action .. Or it can be a custom action to stop recording and playback. Then select all clips.. Then explode takes to multiple tracks)

If You follow what i've rambled haha basically it's like bouncing each track out from mpc into reaper .. When reaper loops at the end, where you set the midi note out from reaper to mpc it changes the track on the mpc. When reaper is in loop mode it does takes. The last track on the mpc is a midi out command into to reaper to stop recording and explode all takes to seperate tracks.

I've done it a few times because i mostly make beats with reaper and dont have to use this..

But when i've soley used the 1k to make something, then i need to track it out, this was the only way i could do it as using individual outs are limting if you want lots of things seperated.. ie kik, snare, claps, hihats, cymbals, toms, samples piano , sample bass, samplestrings,, etc.. IT's power is that all tracks are stereo.. (ie stereo sounding claps , snares, hihats, samples, etc)

I found that you cant use this method with individual outs because you are using solo mode on the mpc, and you would have to make elaborate commands in reaper to have too many tracks armed and disarmed and then create new tracks to arm on the fly with midi actions.

Keeping it simple and just doing one track at a time is better and more powerful.. And it's automated.. So it's really all the same as you just leave it to do its thing...

Yes, which is what I am interested in, how accurate MTC is for sync over multiple recording passes.
