MPC 60 II ! GOOD OR BAD DEAL?

I just copped a 60 II for $550 with $99 shipping.
It has the SCSI expansion with maxed memory.

Akai MPC60II with OS 2.14 and memory expansion and SCSI installed. All buttons and pads appear to work apart from main mix tact switch (needs a clean or replacement), some cosmetic blemishes. Screen is legible, backlight working

Disk drive working fine

Includes 4 floppy disks and a backlight.

Good deal

Jus update the os to v3.10

And if your solder game is nice change all those tact switches asap

Not a bad deal, considering he wanted $999 originally, and then something like $799, I think.

Only issue with that one, for me, was it being a 120V AC version, so you need a stepdown transformer to use it here.

Could you post a link to the tact switches ?

You can't update it with a floppy disk can you? You need those chips. If I update to 3.10 does the 12 bit change to 16 bit or something, sorry im a bit of a newbie when it comes to the OS.

Ask Forat, probably a lot, you will have to send it to the US and back.

Ask ghostinmpc, he can probably repaint the panel to make it look like new, not sure what he can do with the plastic case, you will have to send it to Japan and back.

Does not change from 12 bit to 16 bit. The MPC60 already samples at 16 bit, and stores the samples compressed into a 12 bit format.

It updates the OS to be much the same as the MPC3000 OS, in terms of operation and workflow.

It looks like an expensive job ghostinmpc if you dont live in asia/japan. They're doing nice jobs though

I just copped the 3.10 for my MPC 60ii from Roger Linn's site. Also this SD Floppy Emulator REV F http://www.lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=42
for floppy because I just didnt have good luck with the cheaper floppy emu that uses usb thumb drives


I think you could clean it up... I didnt check the link so I dont know if it actually works. But there are good resources here with info on how to clean it up. I cleaned mines up nicely.

What he had was a good deal based on the sum of what it included.

Hey there ntalec, first of all I'm not that individual who likes newer devices, if that's what you were going for.
I was just afraid if I break it apart, I'm not good with modifications like putting new tact switches in.
