What is the future for the MPC Renaissance?

Next up is MPC RENchine Traktor Studio MK2 powered by NI with KOMPLETE 10 Ultimate. Only going to set you back 3Gs.

Any opinion is pure speculation akai has track record of running outta breath before race is over.I've seen it with MPC 2500 n 5000. Not buying ren until it can operate even after ship sinks

When maschine gets a better sequencer they will never kill the mpc, it prefer the sound of the mpc software way more than maschine I own both

Depends on your soundcard to make a statement like that.

If you say so homie I tested the two on various sound cards since I own both like I said I prefer mpc ren sound over maschine that's my personal preference

I also found the akai software to have a snap to it.The sequencer and the samples.Compared to other sw and maschine.Crazy i know......

The Ren vs. Maschine...simple end all statement.

They are both great systems with cons and pros. To me they are like comparing a Cadillac and Lincoln. They are both great cars with incredible suspension systems but Cadi's are simply more fun to drive. The Ren is the Cadillac...Maschine is the Lincoln. Making beat on the Ren is fun...The Maschine is too boring; it feels like they took every suggestion and sat at a brainstorming session and designed every aspect of it using statistical data...minus the love of an urban music mind.

I was soooo excited about the Ren and still excited. I have been saying that they missed the mark by re-introducing production 1994 technology in 2012. I still feel that way but I am holding true to my belief that they will eventually get it and pay the extra money and bring in the Ableton crew and create the Mega Software/controller system.

NOTE: Akai....I will pay for a software upgrade if it included a partnership with Ableton. I'm sure there are many (if not all) MPC Ren users that feel the same way.

I just hope they don't waste time coming out with some fancy updated Ren with a color screen. Continued improvement on the software should be their direction.

When I want color, I can look up at my PC monitor or laptop screen...

Colors and flashing lights don't do anything for my workflow, nor do they help 'wack' sound like any better...

AKAI has made some mistakes and it seems they want to make it in these competitive times and that they are listening. If they do not want to make some of the same previous mistakes of the past, they will focus on their 'flagship' product, which will continue to help sell more hardware units down the road.

Either way, just like people still use the 2K (not XL) and blue 1k after all this time, people will be using the Ren/Studio and making music, long after multiple 'new' devices come out.

I finally sold mine too after a year of soldiering with it and decided to do that while it still had a decent resale price, produced almost nothing good with it in that time - had high hopes but the 1.5 software is basically where it should have been at launch and if that had been the case then Akai would have little to worry about Native Instruments' sexy new products (which also have their limitations). Instead of playing a hopeless game of catch-up, they'd be leading the way.

I like the product. I think they did a good job. It's a good start. Looking forward to more updates.

Yeah haven't been able to make the same quality of beats as I do on my hardware MPCs on this thing yet. Ideas and creativity just to flow like they do on my hardware MPCs. Can't really explain why.

Had mine a day, selling it tomorrow. It crashed within 15 seconds of me making my 1st beat.

well if they bring in the Ableton crew, hopefully they don't bring that same Ableton style user interface too lol
