program changes

So i guess it turns out I'm really bad with this machine...
For my live set I have all my songs saved as "all songs and sequences" that have a corresponding "program."
I can load up all the programs before the show, but I cant load all the sequences, I would have to do them between songs. I was thinking I could convert all the songs to sequences and then just change sequences to get to the next song. The problem is that it doesnt remember what program it needs to be using on that next sequence until i set it. Is there any way to save the program youre using into the sequence so it just loads up and plays that particular program? Or is there an easier way to do all of this. thanks, -shane

Insert a 1. control change lsb, and 1. control change msb, and 1. program change. This should be identified in the module(s) you are trying to control. Also do a search on lsb or msb. Have fun!!!

Youre talking about programs on the akai right, as in my samples...not programs on my synths. If so, would I create a multi with all the programs I will be using, then assign them numbers, and put the corresponding numbers in the program change? thanks, -shane

I already know a little about msb and lsb. I know all the bank changes for all the synths in my setup. But controlling the bank and program changes on my synthesizers isnt a problem. im trying to control program changes on my mpc with my mpc. Maybe Im not using my mpc right, but here is what i do. First I load up the samples I want to use in my drum beat for instance. Then i press the program button and go to "pad assign." I assign all my drums to pads and then i sequence every part of my song, including the synths. I then put them into song format. After this I will usually put an empty bar with just my program changes for all my synths, bank changes included, so when the song starts all the synths go to the proper patch. after everything is done I save the program, which has all my drum samples and any other samples I may be using. Then I use the "save all songs and sequences" feature to save that part. Then when i want them back I load up the program and the all songs and sequences that corresponds to it. Just by pressing play all the synths go to the right patches or "programs." But the akai is still on its original program, or "program 1" and not the one that corresponds with the song and sequences. so Ill here lots of synths and no drums until i go down to the track where the drums should be, or any other unused track and switch it to the program that corresponds with the song. Is there a way to save that part in with the "songs and sequence" or is there a better way to go about this that I am oblivious to? thanks, -shane

ps: also here is my setup incase it could help. midi out A on the mpc goes to the in on my a station which goes thru to my virus, which goes thru to my an1x which goes thru to my nord lead 1. out be goes to my micro korg which goes to my dx200. As for how i use them, I usually sequence everything i cant play, along with drums and other samples in the way i described above.

You may have to install program changes within the song sequence or in each pattern where the change belongs. You can also assign different tracks to play different sets.

how do i install the program changes?

OK, I think i see the problem. It sounds like you have a midi loop playing back into your MPC. All i think you need to do is take the input midi cable coming into the mpc out. Holla!
