ohhhh man.. ms2000 rack one of my favs. I've wanted one for a minute but i never pull the trigger. I've found that my time and availability doesn't justify copping the amount of various pieces that I'd like to have... for the same reason. it would sit for months before I could get to dig in. but I love those ms2000 rack. A homie of mines has the keyboard version. begged him for it once (maybe twice) he's like NO GO!

I think the rack version is better than the KB version..... I don't know 100% so dont quote me on this, but I believe the keyboard version has no timbre select button... where as the rack one you can pick timbre 1 or 2. This is almost like you have two ms2000s now.. but the keyboard is nice to have.


I was at a garage sale and payed like 70 bucks or something like that. I couldn't let it pass.... I may not be able to get on it now, but I knew it was a piece that would get use....... it's a synth.

Sam Ash by me had 2 Volca Beats in stock. So I bought one Friday and just updated the firmware to 1.02. I believe the firmware update made some improvements in the PCM section.

The Volca Beats is perfect with my x0xb0x. Now I'm looking forward to the Volca Keys somewhere in the near future.

ive been messing with a beats for a week or two now and its pretty cool. Id add a few things if it was up to me(shuffle, 16 steps of sequence), but fun little guy, especially for $150. They did a good job on the 808 BD. I need to look at the audio out mod when i get a chance.

you can apply swing via the korg Kontrol app, the 3 units are 16 steps of sequence (i.e. 1 bar)

Damn, I was passing on the Volcas because I thought they were like Monotrons and small but they are a decent size and the ribbon is larger now than monotribe. I dig the look and the lights flying across.

But really no audio out?

It seems the Volcas are not the super monotribes that some thought. Cats at Korg forums are already sending their models back for a refund. They are capable devices no doubt, but the sound is smaller than the monotribe and they don't have a built-in drum machine. I think the wait worn out the hype and people just moved on.

All I can say is, well, Korg dropped the monotrons then came the monotribe. The Volcas are here now, so that can only mean. . . VOLCATRIBE!!

I know when I heard about them I was all excited especially with the hype / marketing. But as I've seen them I've mostly been over it. although I've gone back and forth about the beats. I wanted to grab one and sample every possible sound variation as a library but still then I'df have this box that I dont use just laying around.

Trust, monotribe is underrated and superior. You'll have a field day with all the sounds that come out of it plus the decent drum kit. And I'm a heavy crate diggin samplin' cat, believe me, its a sample pak factory!
