The New Akai MPC 6000 – “A Dedicated Hardware Unit that functions with DAW’s”
Hardware was once the Father, now it has become the Son?

Dear Akai,
First and foremost- let’s dump the Software attempt. Throw it away, scrap it, leave it alone. Forget it even happened. Now that we have that out of the way, let us embark on the future.

1. Let us leave software Development to Pro tools, Cubase, Logic, Abelton ect ect… Please?

Now for the idiots who are going to say “They have to make software to stay competitive with macshine” .. stop it. If that’s the case. Used mpc 60’s & 3000’s wouldnt still get used today. So..No they do not. We want to keep the warmth of hardware music with the ability to interact with software, NOT rely on it.

2. Akai was, is and still can be the BENCHMARK for today’s standard drum machine/sampler/sequencers .

Let us ponder on the title again “A Dedicated Hardware Unit that functions with DAW’s”. In a sense yes The Mpc Renaissance did this. BUT IT WAS NOT A DEDICATED HARDWARE UNIT. It was an audio interface with pads disguised as an mpc. Now without further or due. The New Akai MPC 6000 or whatever you decide to call it should …..

Wait wait wait….First before I go into that. AKAI AND EVERYONE READING THIS- Please consider the Yamaha mx49 series. Huh? That’s a Keyboard dummy. YES I KNOW! While in the market for a new Hardware synth/keyboard. I bought the Yamaha mx49, and was blown away. Why? Because it was a dedicated hardware

unit keyboard that could 1. function on its own( No computer needed, but optional) 2.sounded like a motif, and what else ? IF I SO DECIDED. GUESS WHAT, with the connection of ONE single usb cord. I could track midi data AND AUDIO with the ability to quantize into Cubase or Logic. Straight plug and play, arm track record.

PERFECT!!! BINGO. That is it, SOLD!

Oh you don’t want to be stuck creating clicking the mouse all day. Perfect I could do that. Why? Because it was created to be a HARDWARE unit first. So with that being said you can see where this is going. Wait.. SHOULD BE GOING. The next mpc should have the same capability like the mx series. I had NO problem throwing down a few hundred bucks for the keyboard once I saw that function. I Didn’t need a bunch of messy wire cable and cord set up just to record into my computer. Just my laptop and a simple 2.0 usb cord and my hardware unit keyboard functions with my DAW. Brilliant!!!
Yamaha’s MX series >>>> http://usa.yamaha.com/products/music-pr ... ode=series

Now, Drum Roll please! The new MPC INSERT NAME HERE should be.
- A Hardware unit that functions without a computer set up BUT has the ability to connect to a computer via one usb cord like the Yamaha mx series.
- Have Batch Export/Import Function (Ability to export completed tracks/sessions to DAW or Desktop) one button.
- Functions with major DAW’s ( Pro tools, Cubase, Logic, Abelton Live, Sonar )
- Ability to record, sample and sequence audio/midi from DAW into MPC INSERT NAME HERE. Example: Opens Pro tools, Opens up vst, records piano sounds into mpc played by midi keyboard also connected to mpc. The software is the slave ( sound module) The MPC is the Master( Sound engine/sequencer)
I am sure there are long work arounds for ALL these functions. But simplicity is the name of today’s game. Especially for today’s younger market who don’t have time for all the cap
- Bonus feature ** incorporate Roger Linn for the audio converters and midi quantization capibilites. 

These 4 functions alone would have been a better, bigger step into the future for the dedicated akai mpc users then the renassiance and its software. No matter what with the ren, you still were pretty much glued in front of your computer. This is what I want to see in the next MPC. I ask that everyone else add to this list of functions. The only rules are… no more ren “software”. No more computer requirements for usage. LETS GO !!! Keep it HARDWARE, KEEP IT FUTURE MINDED BUT CLASSIC MPC FUNCTIONALITY AND SOUND QUALITY. Based around my 4 functions Please add to my list of functions. Thank you

All they need is to hire JJ's team and create a MPC 1000XL or MPC 1500 where you could makes beats on it then create prj files for your beats that are 100% transferable to the software. Filters, effects, Q link settings....everything. So we could use the software for advanced editing.

True that my friend. But you do agree it should be a hardware unit. Yes? Not a audio interface covered with cute lighting pads and buttons and stick and akai mpc sticker on it and sell it for $1,200. ?

I would like to see something made like the 5000 that has all the functions i listed above. Call it what they want 1000xl ect ect.. just make it hardware that doesnt rely on a computer or a software But functions with DAW's. not the "Ren" daw.

Back to the future? I'm getting a sense of Déjà vu here...

Akai won't manufacture another hardware MPC, but that's fine because Akai Japan made all their machines with longevity in mind. They're no less functional today than they were when they were made. :smoker:

Coz,

Not gonna argue that. My point is. I HOPE Akai DOES make another hardware unit that has the capability to functions in today's world. It would be a good step if they made a hardware unit that could do as such stated above.

I have an mpc 60 II. and NO doubt akai japan built them to last. for sure.
The ren was just not it..thus the price drop and the ability for maschine to take it out or off the market.

I want another hardware unit that can be married to software seemlessly. And I know alot of mpc users who want the same. This post will be posted on other forums. I have at least 100 friends in the industry who are waiting for the " 6000" . But I do agree with you. Just hope your wrong about them NOT making another hardware unit my friend. :)

The MPC 4000 achieves a lot of what you want with AKsys, great sound quality and an ADAT connection for tracking. It's not 'ultra modern' but it definitely stands up in today's world, especially in terms of sample manipulation, which Nukai forgot about when they took over the company.

dope I'll have to look into that! Still wanna push nuaki to build the ultimate machine. If not they need to just take the "akai" name off all there products... hahahaa !!

The new maschine "looks" nice...but all that stuff just sounds "cold" as well as the ren did too.

Yeah..when I make the beats on the software I still use the MPC 4000's phono preamps and digitally send the signal to my interface when sampling. Akai paid so much attention to detail when creating the 4k that I could use its effects when just running sound through it.

Yeah all the Maschine beats I heard sound cold. No character to that sound what's so ever.

Wow !!? thats awesome. I also didnt hear as many "Crash Reports" as I do about the 5000. I love the look of the 5000. But from what Ive heard.. the 4000 stands up like no other.

May not have all the features as the 5000. But Ive heard more crash reports about the 5000 then I do about the 4000.

MPC 6000 huh? nice idea. I love my 5000 for what I was able to accomplish on it. After being goine from MPCs (my 2000XL) for a few years it was a nice foot back into MPC world. I initially wanted the 4000 still feel as though, if I find a good price on one I may take the leap.

But as for a dream MPC 6000 I can only imagine Akai killing folks on the price for the simple fact that it would be the new flagship and the highest model number ever. They should do a 3500 or a 4000XL combining all the best things about the 4000 and the 5000 together. then sell a break out box (like Roland did with the MV8000/8800) to gain connectivity to MPC software for use like the REN. I guess nothing about that would be cheap though.

I Def feel you on that note my man.. I just called it a 6000 to catch peeps attention. lol. But yes. a new hardware base mp that connects to the pc/DAW world like that yamaha mx. Man bro. I would pay for it.

I mean they broke peoples hearts and wallets with that crap "cold" plastic fisher price looking mp ren..

vintage mode? lol.. get out.. Lets just hope they make another hardware unit that they dont abandon like the 5000. The 5000 could of been a beast. Still thinking about getting one.

I would buy something like this in a heartbeat.

I still stick with my 5000, and use the MPC software to load up those projects. Don't really make use of the software in Logic Pro though - find it's too limiting for what I want to do. And don't use it stand alone - I prefer the dedicated hardware - don't want to tote around a laptop.

But if something like this came to be - I'd be on it quick.
