MIDI keyboard with ASR 10 rack Problem

I dusted off my ASR 10 Rack and cant get my MPK49 to Work with it as a controller.

I went midi out from MPK to midi in ASR.

Messed around a little with the settings in the ASR, but completely dead.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

what does "completly dead" mean? Is there a menu on the ASR where you can monitor MIDI In? (or a MIDI LED or something?)


Just came to my head that the MPK is a controller primally designed for use with computer so it might be set to send MIDI stuff over USB only by deffault. There is probably a menu on the MPK where you can set it to MIDI OUT (or both USB and MIDI OUT). just a thought

Yeah, I found a thread online saying that you need to hook up the MPK with a power supply to be able to MIDI hardware. Unfortunately it doesnt come with the power adaptor...

So, Now Im trying my old oxygen 8 with no success.. Thinking maybe that also needs a power adaptor and not just the USB power?

I guess my last option is to try with my MPC 1000... But I did that last night and I didnt get it to work.

I actually thought about the MIDI cable being messed up but I have tried 2 different ones now...

Anybody else? Does anybody know how to set it up inside the ASR?

Yes, MPK will need a power supply to send MIDI directly out it's MIDI output port.

With a USB cable connected, the MPK keyboard sends MIDI into the computer over USB, you would have to then route it back out of the computer through the MPK MIDI output port, using some sort of software or utility in the computer.

When trying with the MPC1000, did you set the current track to MIDI, and to the particular MIDI output port that the ASR is connected to?
