I'm a bit surprized by the list. I expected that the zip drive is on top of the list :)

I used floppys when I first got my 2000 cause the zip drive that came with it had the click-of-death.
Then I remembered that I still had this syquest ezdrive somewhere laying around and used it.
But since I only had 3 syquest disks and the dive was too noisy I switched to a MO-Drive cause IMO its the best medium for this kind of stuff.

1. No problem with magnetic fields
2. Very duralble
3. price of the drive and the disks was ok (bought 3 drives and 20 sealed disks from ebay for something like 60 EUR)
4. Speed of loading/saving is ok
5. I have one drive build in my PC so I could transfer samples (but I never use it. Not my type of workflow. I'm happy that the 2000 has the ability to name a sample more than 8 letters when saving internal :))
6. If a disk is corrupted for any reason I would only loose 128 or 230 MB of work. (damn, this reminds me that I still doesn't made backup disks)

Floppys here too, on the mpc2000.
used zips before but i read to many scary stories so i stopped using them.
Not having an external unit makes me happy too. also some turkish pc shop still sells them 3 minutes from my place!

I got the internal CF but I miss the Floppys. There was something about them that I just like :) Having like a big visible collection of sounds. Maybe I'll start using 32MB CF cards haha.

I forget what the MO drives were used in. But I do remember them from somewhere. I definitely need to find more info on that.
I still have my PC with all the samples from my MPC1000 hard drive. But I haven't bothered digging through them when I'd rather just sample new shit through some nice old converters. :)

Not MO, it used QuickDisks, which are a magnetic disk like a floppy, but the data is stored on a continuous spiral track, more like a tape than the usual cylinders/blocks/etc. configuration that you find on most floppy disk formats.

Since I've been on these forums, I've read more horror stories about Zip discs than floppies as well. As long as you're using a good brand, you'll find less duds in a package, and they'll last a long time, as long as you don't leave it in the drive. I still have floppies from the '90s with low mileage. But I'm gonna play it safe and order some more just to be safe.

Yes, just re-read your post, and worked out that you were talking about two different things.

I have used external MO drives years ago, have not seen one for many years now.

Color coded floppies make things easier to manage, as well as enjoying the visual of the collection.

Would be good if they can get QuickDisk emulation going with the HxC floppy emulators, as I would like to try an S612, but don't want to deal with the QuickDisks.

Yeah that would be good. I remember rereading something about that a while back.
As far as the s-612 goes, I gotta get my hands on one and circuit-bend it.
