Something like this?...

Plug the output of the MPC into the input of your audio interface.

Make some audio tracks in your audio software.

Set the inputs of those audio tracks to the audio interface inputs that the MPC is connected to.

Record enable those audio tracks.

Press play on the MPC and set input gain on your audio interface to give good levels without clipping on the loudest part of the sequence/song you are recording.

Press stop on the MPC.

Press record in the audio software, and play on the MPC.

Press stop in the audio software.

Turn off record enable on those tracks.

Position the playback cursor at the start of what you just recorded.

Press play in the audio software and listen to make sure it sounds right.

thanks for your reply simon

i think my problem is that i havent added the mpc as a device on cubase which i am having trouble doing

i select devices on cubase and then device set up then vst audio system

i think this is how im supposed to add the mpc as a device but it doesnt give me the option to add mpc and so im stuck there

sorry if im not making myself very clear but im a real beginner and dont really know what im talking about lol

No problem with the questions, you have to start somewhere.

If you want to record the audio output of the MPC into the Cubase, you will be connecting the audio outputs of the MPC to the inputs of your audio interface, using audio cables.

Cubase is not connected directly to the MPC, it only directly communicates with your audio interface.

You should be setting the tracks in Cubase to the audio interface inputs that you are using with the MPC.

So Cubase needs to be setup to use your audio interface, not the MPC.
