Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Yes, exactly, people get so caught up in the need for audio tracks, that they do not seem to realise that Direct Recording/Record Event is possibly more appropriate to the MPC workflow than audio tracks, and should be much, much simpler/quicker to implement than full audio tracks.

Louie lou wrote:Well I'm for one am going to get a Maschine Studio and midi it up to the Ren and use the missing features of each controller in the other controller. ;) Quick fix if you ask me. :smoker:

I would be nice if the Maschine could be brought up as a RTAS plug in PT.

MPC REN, Transfuser, and Maschine Studio together would make nuclear beats for sure.

Still learning my away around Maschine Studio and 2.0. I have yet to try it inside of the Ren/MPC Software yet.

As far as missing features, 2.0 doesn't handle 3rd party plugins very well. While you can use a mouse to add them in the software...it is impossible or not apparent to add them using the Maschine Studio hardware.

:hmmm: it's been the same since version 1.x...

[SHIFT]+[BROWSE] choose External or Internal and choose the plugin you want. Tried it with 2.0 on MK1 controller just yesterday when I was testing it out.

Don't know for Studio HW, but why would it be any/or much different.

RTFM son...

:Sigh:

add 3rd party plugins via the hardware is possible and it´s done the same way as in 1.x

Thanks. I got it now. That [SHIFT] + [BROWSER] works.

Or a pretty chaotic workflow.
Seems like too much of a disconnect to use them together with a smooth flow.

Lol, I can get the REN, Transfuser thing in there pretty smooth. Got to see if adding another element can work.

Well I find that I use the MPC software or Maschine but never both.
I may use a hardware MPC with the MPC software since it's easy to open something I may have been working on in the 4k in the software to keep working on it.

I just feel the workflow of Maschine and it's abilities work for certain types of music but doesn't work for certain types.

I can't see my workflow benefiting from trying to use a Ren with Maschine.

After the past few days of using the Maschine Studio and 2.0...I have observed NI has added several features that have already existed in the MPC Renaissance and MPC Software:
1. Overlapping slices
2. Sample overview
3. Manual slicing using mouse
4. Dedicated tabs for Sound editing and Sample editing
5. Integrated NI plugins 'skins' with Maschine vs the plugin popup windows
6. Bar/Beat counter in transport section
7. Pad Mode to drag-n-drop samples to 4x4 pad display
8. Mixer view
9. Banks
10. Multipad edit
11. Import MIDI files
12. Send MIDI CC messages to external devices

I also noted than Maschine Studio controller doe not control 100% of the software. Going through all of Maschine features, there are very few that I would suggest Akai implement in the MPC Software.

One of the cheapest and potentially most successful thing Akai could do for its virtual MPC range is go all out and give the sequencer some serious bells and whistles. One that rivals any Daw midi sequencer out there.

If I were head bloke I would be telling my team to give that thing the best sequencer ever seen on an MPC or any other hardware sequencer for that matter, and make sure it rivals any Daw midi sequencer. yes, I know its not hardware - but its close.

I do not like that idea. The only reason I'm even interested in Ren or Maschine is because the traditional DAWs are bloated. They've got tons of stuff in there that has nothing to do with music creation.

The MPC is an instrument & keep it's focus on creating music. Better sounds, loops, instruments, yes. Better time stretch, groove extracting, cataloging, yes. Pitch correction, yes.

But all the bussing, most of the effects, surround crap, video crap, blah, blah, blah...... leave that to the traditional DAWs.

jmo.

^^^. This!!!!!

MPC is an instrument, not a DAW!!!!! Stay in the instrument lane Akai, and make this thing INTEGRATE with my DAW!!! See spectrasonics and Kontakt for how the mpc should integrate in a daw. Please and thank you.

+1000000000000!!!!!!!!

to me the mpc soft standalone is still pretty wack, but in conjunction with Ableton it really shines IMHO.

what im really missing now is multicore and more outs.

often i ran out of channels, specially if layering sounds and the cpu its taxed too heavy if you open plugs into the mpc.

One could easily interpret that list as 12 reasons not to hold on to the Ren and switch to the better supported Maschine platform. :smoker:

Yeah. Really, the people that complain about the Ren on this site is really minuscule compared to all the people that bought it. It pretty much has 5 star ratings across the board. It's good at what it does. If one finds significant faults in the Ren after 1.5 they're just a pure Akai-Hater.

It's a good concept and product. If this is just their beginning I'm excited about the future of The Ren.
