I can make my MPC studio make sounds but I can't record anything or hook it to Logic, can someone help, watched a video but my Edit/Preferences/other doesn't let me change from DAW to plugin so I couldn't follow it properly.

So you have sounds assigned to MPC pads, but when you hit REC and PLAY and tap the pads, then play it back, u get nothing? Maybe its an audio setting if you see the notes played in the trackview but get nothing on playback. If uncertain that it is functioning properly, you may have better success with AKAI support. (We're paying for it when buying the units)

As far as your DAW, everyone is dif as far as various operations but U don't set the mode from MPC, you do that in your DAW. That's gotta be somewhere within it's instructions or manual.... How to record or load VST plugins.

When you figure that out and how to set DAW's VST path to where the MPC.dll and/or where u install all ur VSTs, the MPC will show up in your DAW as an available plugin.

Thanks for the reply. Basically I have not created a Wav file on any product that I have bought but I was thinking it would go straight into Logic when I press the pads, my Keyboard won't be delivered until next week maybe that's the problem. When I go into my edit options it says to go to vintage I must install renaissance but I have MPC studio.

I have studio and make plenty of beats on it without ever launching my Sonar DAW

In short, open software and click browser in software or the browser button next to data wheel. Browse to sounds, wav, mp3, etc.. and drag them to desired pad. tap that pad and viola...

Can even open your explorer window on ur system and drag them to the mpc window.

Those are easiest ways to get sounds to mpc... as far as plugins, in software, change where type says DRUM to plugin and the rest will be self explainatory

Where do you construct the beats because I'm sort of guessing it should be done on a cubase kind of thing which is why I got Logic. everything seems in order but recording. The MPC interface seems the place to do it but it doesn't record and the blue light thing seems daunting.

All of the beat creation and sequencing can be done on the MPC. I only truly use my DAW when I want to add vocals.

I prefer the MPC sequences, patterns and song mode over doing it in my DAW.

Assign sounds to pads as I stated above, press record and play on the MPC hardware or software...

That's pretty much it, beyond that, depends on your workflow and what sounds youre assigning to pads. More than that will come thru doing. such as how many bars per pattern, how you lay ur patterns in dif sequences... If U have ever used any MPC, its the same. I never read the manual cause I used many MPCs before, but U def may want to open that manual and at least do the quick start.

I hardly checking forums cause I am at work but U may not be getting as much help as you desire because what you're asking is in the manual and people are actually trying to be nice and by not saying anything, or else they will be saying, RTFM....

Look thru the quick start and come back so we can clear things up that don't make sense. (If you just read all this and the previous posts of mine and yours, its longer than the quickstart)

cheers lads, cheers, stupid really but watched a few more vids on it an see i'm not pressing the record properly. Quite a relief, spent a few grand on on equipment I know nothing about, hopefully it isn't all this complicated lol.

This one is the most helpful at the moment I haven't tested the method yet as I watched the vids before bed and just woke up but it seems straight forward.

You're using it in standalone mode & expecting the sounds to jump from one program to another. It doesn't work that way.

To use it as a VST, close the Studio standalone app you're using. Open Logic, create an instrument track, insert MPC Studio as an instrument.

May I suggest before your keyboard gets there, you use google & do some research on midi, midi devices, & sequencing. Youtube is pretty good too. Look for Logic tutorials.

Vintage mode only works on Renaissance.

Like we got all day to do all the searching and problem solving for you. Overhere we are always prepared to help somebody into the right direction if he or she tried all the obvious by him/ herself. Not to bust your bubble but won't be a pro over week. Not even if you skip on reading the manual.
