Overdubbing cancels the samples on the first take

The first two bars are the original loop, but when I try to add more stuff on the next two bars, they just cancel out the samples from the original loop. It didn't do this earlier to day, so how can I fix it?

Sorry, thought I posted this in the MPC 1000 section! I have JJOS free!

I tried reloading the samples/program, restarting, etc. If you listen to the recording you will hear how **** up it sounds!

I DID record with overdub, but as you can hear, as soon as I play a new sound, it instantly stops the one that was on the old layer.

So if it shouldn't sound like in the mp3 when I use overdub, is my MPC ****?

its probably that your last note is too long and so the note-off message is 'wrapping' to the beginning of the sequence.

go into step edit, find the last note of the problem sample, and turn the duration down as far as it will go. see if that fixes the problem.

if it does, then just start bringing the duration back up until it works right.

it should be something less than where it was originally
