MPC 1000 - Problem with assigning effect to pad!

Hello guys,

I just got my mpc two days ago and the manual really helps but im stuck on one thing; i wanna assign an effect to a pad. I know how to do it, i go to mode - effect - choose my effect - go to mixer - go to fx send - courser up - and this is where the manual says you can use the data wheel..well if im turning the data wheel nothing happens..there are just two little lines but i should be able to choose between fx 1, fx 2 or no effect. I'm using jjos2xl.

In program, the out tab where is TRK (track mixer) you change to ST (program mixer).
ye, I know it's not very intuitive BTW you can use q-link 1 instead of jog to set most of the values in program.
