I didn't know the firmware update was called 1.5...
But maybe that's because of the OP bad english.

The 1.01 firmware update is part of the 1.5 software update. They are supplied, and designed to work together.

The OP is obviously referring to the 1.01 firmware part of the 1.5 software update.

But yes, on re-reading, it is not clear that the firmware update is the issue.

That is an assumption I am making, which is quite possibly incorrect and not related to his problems, though I do think he is probably stuck at the firmware update and his hardware is dead due to that.

Isn't that just preventing computer system sounds from being output from the Renaissance?

It still works otherwise, though, as an ASIO audio interface for MPC Software and other applications, doesn't it?

to the original poster:

what is actually happening then?

does it turn on?

does it get stuck on firmware update?

what are you using ? mac or pc?

my ren was stuck at locating mpc during update and I just pulled the usb lead out without switching it off and it worked fine from there..

don't know if that will help you but it did for me
