So how many of you ACTUALLY dig?

I haven't actually went digging, or really delved into my collection for at least 3 or 4 years now. I lost the passion for music. I watched as one of the best & last of the RECORD stores (RIP Vinyl Fever) closed it's doors. When I first moved down here in 2001, I used to make weekly excursions to that store because I would pass it on the way home from work. I came up on so much stuff there for $1.00. Everything from Rap, to Rock, Funk to IDKWTF this is. And ALWAYS in VG+ condition.

After pulling out some the gems (known & unknown) already in the collection these past few weeks, I feel reinvigorated. I may take a trip to a few low low stores I know of soon.

Same here my GF would literally look like this if she saw me coming through the doors with stacks like that. I used to do it quite often a few years back tho. Grab what ever you want to keep, bring the rest to the shop for trades and whatever is left goes right back to kijiji or Cl. Man... bad ideas are brewing right now LOL

actually for me it was a rescue mission.

I still dig and I like my women thick to fat. No shame in my game either.

I'm a digger. I mainly do charity shops. I used to go to the record stores but they're like 25 miles from me now so I don't get to go often. Digging is defiantly a science ... I still have no idea what I'm looking for when I dig apart from the usual commercial names. It's all fun though when you get the bag home and find a gem.

I used to but admit that I haven't in some time now. I still have a gang of vinyl.. more than I can probably go thru without having more spare time to just sort thru. I have ripped so much to the PC that I need to sort thru some of that, which will be a task in itself.

I enjoyed it though. You can get wrapped up in it and find yourself spending more time digging, than laying stuff down at times. Good stuff!

I try to go to the record store and buy like 8 records a week at least. I have a lot in my city and there's a hip hop store literally two blocks away which makes it hard to not go buy ghostface Ironman represses and stuff like that but I try to keep it down to 3 dollar soul/funk/jazz/whatever records.
I also have a goodwill that sells records for a dollar here which sometimes has random dj/scratch records (the kind that have ladies with bikinis and lloyd banks remixes) and frequently has sampleable vintage records.

this year was good for diggin' my spot had 25% off every 25th of the month for their (surprise) 25th anniversary... so at least one week out of the month I felt like I was taking THEM for a ride

I dig every few months when I have time and extra cash. I sample mostly from youtube lately. I just connect my phone to my mpc. But nothing beats digging through crates for vinyl.

DITC. all day everyday.

I got about 8 crates of vinyl.I inherited alot of it from my late mother.Until I`ve gone through each and every record,I don`t see the need to dig for anything.Also with all the free music floating around the net,I don`t have the zeal I once did to look for more music.there`s so much music/endless possibilities.

Just to add, I picked up a book called "Record Collector - Rare Record Price Guide 2012". The book is bigger than a large print Bible! It's nice flicking through it, hitting YouTube for a few hours, even if it's only to learn more about the older music.

Getting tracks from the web is good, but I'll only look for the .aiff or .wav version. The odd times I do use MP3's they need processing to "attempt" to give them some natural dirt. Layering with vinyl silence works well.

contemplating giving up all my records to a local shop in change for store credit and start anew, the only thing I wont be giving up is...

*Odd-Ball Records
*Soundtracks/Scores
*Percussion Albums

but I was given a crap load of records and feel like I'm bogged down by the need to find new samples on my own doing but also going through all the records given to me. weird/odd but eh
