Selling MPC Ren to Guitar Center

GC would not be the first place most people turn to when selling gear.

Right... Plus if you look at GC used inventory, there are a lot of used Rens for sale. Ebay has far too many used ones for sale. Then there are other gear sites, stores, and quick pawns, that have not been considered.

Either way, many of us are speculating, tho to the naked eye, it seems AKAI have to do some fast and meaningful updating to do to the MPC software and their marketing

Most people selling their Rens are not desperate enough to sell them to a retailer, who will give you virtually nothing and laugh at you as you leave the shop. These days everyone is comfortable with Ebay or Craiglist etc, so they'd go straight there.

The more revealing method would be to look at how many s/h Ren listings you see on Ebay and Craiglist over a period of a few weeks. However the size of the s/h market depends on the number of new units that were purchased in the first instance...

Guitar Center is the worst place to sell used equipment. As everyone has pointed out they will rip you off in a heartbeat. The most they will offer is 10-20% of what the equipment is worth if it is in nice condition.

They will also rip you off on used gear. I was in a GC last week and spotted a used MPC 500. It was beat up, had no power supply, broken on/off button and no cover on the CF slot. I asked how much. Dude says $200. He said he didn't even know if it worked and that it was non-returnable. His then pointed to a sticker on the bottom indicating that it originally sold for $1200! He said that the store paid $350 for it used. His friend (a customer) said "..yeah man, I heard they just came out with an update for it...". I glared at the two of them and politely walked out. Smdh

I find it hard to believe that anyone would sell their Ren after exploring the capabilities. The used ones that I see listed seem not to be selling. Perhaps gentlemen would prefer a new one instead--I guess?

Dudes still think they're going to above $6oo for the Ren when they're new for $725. They are not being realistic with their selling prices.
