Hi all, I have just received my MPC element and I'm new to this. I have downloaded the mpc essentials and registered the product on the mpc site. However, when i started the essentials and connected the mpc i got a pop up message saying that the drivers cannot be installed. When I tried again i got an error message that the drivers were not installed properly and that i need to re-install them, but I don't have any such option when i connect the mpc once again to the computer.

I've tried removing and installing the essentials once again, but to no avail. The option for installing the drivers simply does not appear. I'm running this on a win7 64 bit.

Any advises will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

anyone?

i contacted HP support just to check if the issue is not with my pc, they confirmed its not after deleting all the usb drivers and installing them again. seems like its a compatibility issue or something on MPCs side.

i'd appreciate some opinions.

Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port?

Maybe see if you can find it listed in Windows Device Manager control panel, maybe it will show up with a yellow exclamation triangle warning symbol to indicate it is not installed correctly, maybe you can choose to update the drivers there.

I have no idea how the Element installation works, whether it has specific drivers like the MPC Studio and Renaissance, which show up in the installation program as a separate option to the software, or whether the drivers are contained within the software installation and not shown as a separate option, or whether it connects as a class compliant device and uses built in drivers.

If you don't get any solution here, maybe try the Akai community forums, where an Akai tech support employee should try and help you to get it going.

Yes, I have. It does show up in the Device manager with a yellow triangle symbol, I uninstalled the driver and installed it again, i did the same with the device too, but nothing changes. When i plug it in any usb port, it starts searching for "windows update" and in a few seconds shows a "no drivers found" message.
In properties, under driver provider it shows "unknown" so it seems like the pc cannot connect to the mpc site, or wherever the drivers come from .

and this is what comes up in the general field

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

seems like no one else has had this issue. i have already contacted support via e-mail too.

I am having the same exact problem. Windows can't install the driver, and it shows up in Device Manager under Other devices with a yellow exclamation icon (MPC Element and Unknown device).

By the way I have tried this on three different computers and get the same result each time. MPC Element and Uknown device show up in Device Manager under Other devices and the driver fails to install.

So far, I'm very unimpressed with the Element as a midi controller for my iPad, and I cannot get it installed on any PC. Guess I'll be taking it back.

Ok, I'm an owner of the MPC Element and Win 7/8 64 bit user.

ok, this is good as it means windows see it and knows it's there, but not how to use it!!

when I first got drivers from akai's site, the main page where they had the v1.5 (I'm thinking this is the demo drivers). I then signed up my account and I had a new link which also let me download the added packs. I had uninstalled the demo drivers and used only the drivers from account link.

Also, when you DL the driver from the account link it should come as a zip file. Unpack it to folder, Inside is the drivers both x86 & x64bit. then go to DM and tell it to update driver software, then and next box pick browse my computer. Where you will point it to the unpacked zip file. Once loaded you should see in DM as Akai Element mini in sound card part of DM.

Thanks! I followed your advise and installed the drivers. The thing is that the Update driver software didn't help, even though I chose the destination folder. However, I manually installed the drivers from the unzipped folder (Drivers->Element->Setup). Hope this helps others having the same issue.

I was going to add that in as a side B, But I find windows don't always like loading drivers on top of drivers so I didn't add that. Still it worked for you. So in the end that's all that matters.
