studio power..

ready to cop a studio...... but the power supplys had me thinking its useability for my needs

or lack of it rather... so if it running off my laptop, has anybody used it with the laptop on battery only, and does it run pretty low key or is it a real noticable drain?

just as its being pushed hard as portable seems semi portable at least for long in my thinking and i couldnt get much sense out my local dealer or hq on power consumption

I've ran mine.on battery many times, and have not noticed any difference

I have my studio and my midi keyboard powered off my laptop as we speak... I always unplug my laptop once it reaches 100% and leave it unplugged til it gets down to 10-25%.... with and without the keyboard and mpc powered on, I dont see much different in battery drain

Yes Lamp, I do the same with my cell, and other rechargeable battery operated devices.

I shoot for 10%, give or take a few percent, but I will connect it around 25 or so at times.

I do however (when near a constant source of AC) often plug in my laptop, charge to 100%, then remove the battery and continue to run off AC, Popping the battery back in before I need to disconnect the AC and get mobile.

being bus powered its not much different than any device that plugs into usb and get bus power. all of this is accounted for in calculating advertised battery life.

one last thing i notice the akai website specs state dvd-rom drive required.. is this just for the initial load up of software... im right in thinking nothing has to be running/or in the drive during use, as i dont have a built in one only a usb external one.

The DVD drive is only required to load the additional expansion packs when installing it, not needed when running it.

I know some that use a $29 USB DVD as needed for just such things
