16 or 24 bit sampling Roll Call!?

Another quote that shows you do not understand.

That quote is all about recording sources with a wide dynamic range. Sampling from vinyl is not recording a source that has a wide dynamic range, most likely only 50-55dB, possibly up to 75dB for direct cut vinyl.

As the quote says, and what you highlighted, 24 bit does not make it sound better.

But you are claiming that you have done direct side by side comparisons, recording a source such as vinyl with comparatively limited dynamic range, and that it does sound better.

I am interested in hearing those comparisons, in a blind test, without the bias that comes from thinking the 24 bit recording is automatically going to sound better than a 16 bit recording.

If you think that is spoon feeding an adult, if you are implying that asking to hear your examples is childish, rather than part of an adult discussion and debate about a subject, then that is your problem.

Your Quattro sound card doesn't operate differently between recording at 24 bit and 16 bit, the recording software just keeps the top 16 bits and discards the lower 8 bits.

if i may try to mediate - it sounds like yall are talking about different things.

sampling vinyl into a sampler vs. recording tracks into daw / recorder.

sampling vinyl at 24bit = probably pointless (but if you love it, do it, props)
recording tracks at 24bit = very handy
sampling non-vinyl source into a 24 bit sampler = probably useful

this reminds me - wasn't one early version of the ren software claiming to sample at 24bit but was actually consistently outputting 16bit files? that was a good one.
