MPC4k RAM...Will this brand work?

Hi everyone,
Just bought a 4k from the US and I've been seeking out the upgrades while I wait for it to arrive. I found an ebay seller selling RAM for the 4k and it seems to be the same type of RAM as this;

Does anyone know if this RAM will work in an MPC4000?

I can't confirm. I once bought a stick matching the correct spec and it didn't work. I ended up overpaying at MPCStuff to know it would work.

But maybe that one is going to work. On the 1000 and 2500 you must use a CL3 rated stick. That's Clock Latency rating. On PC's it's makes no difference really, but on the later MPC's it's the key.

Not all sticks have the CL3 rating printed, but sti ll may be CL3. This one is labelled. But I'm not sure if CL3 is the same necessary rating on a 4000. But I think there's a chance it is as perhaps Akai stuck with CL3 starting in 2002.

But just a guess. Maybe this week I can find time to open up my 4k and I'll look to see if it's CL3 rated.

"The required memory board is 168-pin DIMM (PC133/PC100, CL2).
* 256Mbit x 8 ICs type 256Mbyte DIMM is not supported. 128Mbit x 16 ICs type is recommended."

I hope he gets the right one. But I've had Kingston sticks exact spec not work, that were identical to ones reported working here. (RAM was good in both cases I tested it in PC's) So I hope that doesn't happen to the OP.

I found the other thread recommending a specific type of Kingston RAM, I searched for this on google shopping and only managed to find ebay sellers with used RAM which is a no-go for me.

I guess I'll just take the easy option anf grab the stuff listed on ebay as "MPC4000 RAM" and wait for the international post.

eBay is your best bet, even though it's used. I got 512MB Kingston RAM for £10 and it works fine.
