New project from controller?

Can you start a new project from the Renaissance or Studio controller? Or do you have to use the keyboard or mouse?

Unfortunately, you have to use the mouse to do this. But i would really like to be able to do it from the controller! Actually, i want to be able to do EVERYTHING from the controller! I don't really understand why they left out a few things... Like for example the option for selecting pads (current, all, and a third one )
