Exactly why I want to cut a hole in the bottom and have the computer partially out of the botton, with a bar in place of the rear feet which could also support a custom holder for an iPad or monitor.

Took a while for the 3d rendering to complete (very complex lighting and shading) but here is a sketch of the idea for the bracket.

Yep, that is what I was thinking.

Maybe put a VESA mount on the top of the bracket, so the user can choose from off the shelf VESA mounts for tablets, or direct mount to a monitor.

You might want vertical height adjustment, and maybe an angle adjustment, either in the bracket, or allow room for some sort of Ram Mount or similar ball/socket attachment or other adjustable mount to give some adjustment.

For example, the Surface mount I listed earlier has this mounting arrangement on the back of it, you could mount that directly to the custom Renaissance monitor bracket, or maybe use a rotating ball/socket piece in-between to give some angle adjustment...

Good ideas 4 sure. I'll look into whats available as this whole thing comes together. I honestly would like a spare bottom before I start work but to be honest I wouldn't cry if my Ren got destroyed...(not that it would), it would just rid me of the continual suffering it has caused lol.

Might want to think about strength of how the bracket attaches to the MPC lower case, so that when you pick up the Renaissance with a tablet/monitor attached, the leverage from the weight of the monitor on the bracket does not break the mounting points onto the plastic of the lower case.

Also have feet on the rear of the bracket as well (four feet on the bracket in your diagram), so the weight of the tablet/monitor is transferred from the bracket to the surface it is sitting on, rather than through the mounting points where there bracket is attached to the lower case...




Possibly two separate, or combined, projects, mounting a PC inside the lower case, and mounting a tablet/monitor bracket to the lower case.

I appreciate the input Simon Excellent idea, I had pondered for a while about how to support the weight on the rear bracket, but feet on the actual bracket is an excellent idea.

I'm also planning on making the bracket removable so that it's optional depending on the setup. Right now my plan is to use Air Display with an iPad so when it wasn't being used it could lie on the couch or the park bench or wherever I am that has electricity (a park in the middle of the night on the south side of Chicago for example).

Other thoughts I've had are on how to make parts of it multi-purpose by using the raised rear support leg as a power strip and also to house the computer ports (USB etc..). So more or less a small custom box with ports and outlets that is flush with the rear of the computer creating the extra lift needed to house the computer.

Looks like I have access to a spare bottom panel from MPC Stuff. Time to start ordering parts... I'll make a new post when I make some progress
