im pretty illiterate when it comes to notes and keys...

but dont sleep on les claypool of primus fame... one of the illest bass guitar players ever..... he plays very unconventionally... but i dont know his stuff good enough to recommend any open bass notes/lines....

also, Tommy Guerrero is someone you may not have heard of who plays some good funk style bass sometimes besides other instruments..... ive only got a small percentage of his catalog and dont remember any open bass notes/lines, but hes got a decent amount of stuff to sift through....

sorry for not being more specific, but thought you might be interested in delving into these guys stuff, as its not the obvious go to stuff....... :-D

and tommy would be hella stoked to be sampled i bet.... hahahah.....

Also, John Coltrane, esp live stuff have LOTS of bass solos, often without drums, and often switches between bowed and plucked notes. most of trane's stuff is well recorded. There's an open opening on "Africa/Brass" song, I think its called africa, and maybe greensleeves too.

I own a BOSS DR (I think) 660, which is a drum machine with basses in it? I could record some F notes in a couple of different basses if that's what u want.

Yeah, Vimeo is like HBO and youtube like broadcast tv

I found vimeo when my job locked out youtube, been hooked ever since. They got more of the heavy hitters over there and promotion vids you won't find on youtube. Yes, the sound is HD :P

Yp Tommy plays the way I like hearing string bass. Love that sound
