JJ OS2XL: Record only pads/don't record incoming MIDI

Hey guys,

Is it possible to make the MPC ignore incoming MIDI while recording, so it only records what I am playing on the pads?

I am running my Elektron Octatrack through the MPC in my setup, so when I want to record e.g. some finger drumming on the MPC, the incoming MIDI is also recorded on other tracks which is kinda painful.

Maybe set "Midi note" off on the octatrack.....

But I still want to send the MIDI from the Octatrack through the MPC (it is sent to my Nord Lead), I just don't want the MPC to record it...

Well , the easy way would be to set a different midi channel for the octatrack and the nord lead (let say 16 for both).
That way , you know that track 16 on your mpc is gonna be foul of midi info it doesn't and just ignore that track (don't forget to set pgm on "off")

That's tricky indeed but there might be a proper way do that. I don't know a lot about the octatrack but it seems like the kind of problem you encounter when you're using 2 sequencer in the same midi chain...

Right now I have it setup so MIDI for Nord Lead is on channel 13-16, so these tracks will be full of MIDI data, that I don't want to send.

But is it possible to tell these tracks only to send incoming MIDI to their outputs, and not send the MIDI in the track?

what happens if you mute tracks 13-16 on the mpc ?

oh , and what about the midi setting in the bottom right corner of the main screen in tracks 13-16 ?

The Mute thing. I muted track 13-16. Nothing is recorded on them now, but they are still sending the MIDI received from the Octatrack through, and that's exactly what I wanted
