Akai's current price drop says " Crap, they caught on to us. okay okay , it is only a controller and simple software, lower the price bill" haha..
1.) In all seriousness. You can get propellerheads BALANCE audio interface and reason essentials bundled for 399.00 . NO BUGS ! BETTER SOFTWARE, Pretty much worth it.
2.) When you buy an mpd 26. You get a controller and watered down version of abelton software. NO BUGS Better software. basically what you get with the ren. same value. Currently you can buy it at $ 189.00 in some places. You can also buy an audio interface with the same if not more capabilities then the one inside the ren. for about $150.00. With this package you are still hundreds of dollars under the ren" $1,299 club"
3.) Out the gate the ren should of been 499.99. No major price drop needed at this price point. more units would of been sold. And im sure customers wouldnt feel so bad waiting for the crappy software to be worked out. The bottom line is, it was not worth the $1,299.
Oh and for those on this board that say it has the same audio converter as the mpc 3000 ......
Just wait to my buddy opens his ren up and his 3000 up on you tube to prove this theory wrong. Also...if it has the same audio converter as the 3000 then why in the heck is there a button on the ren to make it sound like a 3000

" we know this thing really lacks the sound quality of a 3000, so we better put a " vintage mode" on this thing to make them think its just as good. And NO im not saying hardware automatically sounds better ...but I know the 3000 sounds better then the ren.. Just ask dj premier or Arab what they think ............."off camera" ... lol you'd be suprised at what they really would say. And I have heard peoples tracks that were made on the Ren and the studio... SOUNDS THE SAME. so there aint nothing special about that "3000 audio converter" inside the ren.
Again the only people who will say the ren was worth $1,299 are those who PAID $1,299 for it. OR people who bought the studio and know if the ren price drops.So will the studio. so to each there own. But at the end of the day.. behind the glitz and glam, celeb producer marketing tactics, and price inflation.. IT IS JUST A CONTROLLER.
Ive actually seen kids do this. Both kids buy the same pair of sneakers, one kid says he got his for cheaper and the other kid tries to justify his pair for costing more by making fun of the kid for paying less for the SAME thing. LOL !!! The ren is a great product, good idea, and the software just needs time to be worked out. But it was NEVER worth that much money with its current performance case closed. The more people try to justify something they paid to much money for. The more these manufactures will make crappy products, rush the software and market the crap to you. In all fairness, they are working on the software which is good for current owners..but that still wont justify the price. IF and when I ever get a ren. I wont pay more then $400 for it

They changed it to this on the website...
the analog output circuitry in MPC Renaissance is identical to the classic MPC3000
...so they are claiming that the circuitry after the DA convertors is the same as the MPC3000, not the convertors themselves.
Everyone here knows that is was deceptive marketing.

No, it is integrated software and controller.
The software has to be developed from scratch, and that costs money.

Question now is, how many people did akai alienate with the deceptive marketing and overall software condition?
Curious to see what their next move will be. Curious about 1.6. Curious how much longer they will continue to develop the software. Curious where some of the avid supporters have gone - they don't seem to post much here anymore. Could just be me though. But at least some of them would keep the focus on the future and keep things energized.
