Mixer plugin for the REN/Studio/Element - Blue Cat Audio Pat

I found this plugin very interesting for the guys who loves to put a lot of vst in the mixer inserts. Take a look at this thing :

In fact, you can save presets with up to 64 vst insert. What the MPC mixer can't do for now

I have to test it, will install it in the next few weeks. If anybody has already feedbacks or knows something similar, welcome !

I use 4-5 plugins from Blue Cat Audio with the REN and they are rock solid stable since the beginning.



Blue Cat's PatchWork is a universal plug-ins patchbay that can host up to 64 VST plug-ins into any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in one instance.

It is possible to chain effects in series or create up to 8 parallel chains that can be activated independently. This lets you create your favorite effects or instruments configurations within the plug-in, without the need for multiple busses. These configurations can be saved as presets and recalled instantly, or shared with multiple DAWs, using any plug-in format (full list below).

Despite the name, you can forget about wires or cables: configuring plug-ins routing is as simple as adding or removing a row or a column in the rack's matrix.

For each plug-in slot, latency compensation, presets management, undo/redo integration, and individual plug-in bypass are included for optimal operation. The plug-in also stores the position of the window for each plug-in so that the layout is restored with your session or saved with presets.

The plug-in is available as an audio effect or a virtual instrument so that it can be inserted on any type of track, with up to 8 audio channels.

Input and output level meters are also included to monitor the signal that is dispatched to inserted plug-ins.

If you are looking for a multiband VST host for multiband processing, check out the Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer plug-in. Also, any Blue Cat Audio plug-in is compatible and can be hosted by this plug-in.

Wow this is interesting I wonder if its heavy on the processor? Seems that it would be.

I own a license for this plug-in and have successfully used it with the MPC. It does not add any notable CPU usage to the plug-ins it is hosting. It seems a lot more stable than the MPC hosting plug-ins directly by the way. Patchwork can open up plug-in-instruments, that the MPC itself opens without the right GUI or with other errors.

Cool its reasonably priced I'll try it. I'll grab patchwork. The demos look awesome.

MB-7 Mixer is an excellent concept to, particularly on a voice bus.

The one question I have that would make me unable not to buy it:

Does it support side-chaining? In itself maybe?

Not that I am aware of. If you need side chain compression without actually setting up a conventional side chain you could try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsmKItuZxXQ

I've used MBSC from Vengeance for quite some time and personally think it is the easiest way to create typical EDM side chain compression effects and similar things. It works fine on my Mac Pro as AU inside of the MPC software.

I wonder if i can open this on a plug-in track and finally use waves element synth with the REN.

I'd suggest to try the demo version from Blue Cat Audio. There is a good chance it will work flawlessly. On my system, I didn't experience problems with any plugins using patchwork yet, including instruments.

hey comtox, thank you very much for directing me to this bundle. i have heard about it but never really looked into it since i had the waves mercury. this patchwork looks great.

I bought it through jrr shop and paid only 54 dollars for it.
You can use it as fx patchbay or instruments patchbay.
You can use an instrument and add fx to it.
It is awesome!!
