Assign slider to volume in mix change?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and here is my question

I'm wondering for a long time if there is any way to assign the slider to the volume in the mixer, so you can record the volume changes with the slider instead of the wheel, wich is really not handy for that imo.

If someone knows how to do that, please make me a detailed how to, because I've been trying a lot of times but no success..

I don't think that this is possible with the slider. I can imagine tho that it can be done with an external lider (from a MIDI controller/keyboard).
I would create a test sequence with some notes in it and then record the mixer with the wheel. After that save this sequence as MIDI file on floppy and load it in a DAW to see how the mixer chances are implemented. Its probably some ControlChange or SysEX messages and when you know how its done you could program a slider on a MIDI controller to act that way.

I will keep hitting the pad sensitively and or make the changes in step mode. I actually never use this slider, so it could have been a good way

What I wanted to do is simply automate the volume of let's say 8 hits of a horn during one bar. That's just an example. And make it fade out. That could be done in step mode, but with a more complex up and down volume need, step mode would be a nightmare (at least for me). Maybe there is just a way to make the wheel faster?

that's because you do not use the slider,i suggest you learn how to use the slider and how it reacts to the the tuning,the decay,and the attack,and the realease,the filter,the velocity of the sound assigned to it.you can record all of these movements onto a track,you can do fades with it.just a heads up.it's fun to learn as well i love using it.i think once you learn what that slider can do,you may never stop using it.
the slider, and the note repeat buttons together, can create some,good really result's.that way you can just fade the hits, stabs, shots,you want then when it comes to the mixer, you can record the volume changes for the whole of each track. iv'e only been using the m.p.c 2000 x.l for about two month's so i am trying to learn this baby,no short cuts,i know if i learn this machine like i learn to sing i will not go wrong .it takes time be patient and the end result's will pay off.

You're right no konka's, I should learn how the slider can be used even if I'm not much into reading he manual, I always feel like I don't find what I want. I prefer sampling sh** instead haha but knowing your tools and equipment is a good thing for sure.

sorry, you cant use the slider to fade the velocity,i should have written 16 levels velocity combined with the slider/decay/attack/filter can give creative results.

That would be really cool, I've got a BCR2000 controller that would be perfect for this. Anyone know those cc/sysex values?
