Hi guys, its been a while since I have been here. I am using the 1k with jjos2xl,
and I have successfully achieved using the q link slider in ableton as a volume control.
My question is, why can't I use it for anything else, like when just using q link standalone? Even with "using ableton with the mpc 1000" doesn't really shed to much light. I follow the same steps mentioned for setting the q link volume control, but nada.

The best thing I love is recording beats while screwing with tune feature on q link sliders , using 1k standalone, to get real glitches out drums and cymbals that have that psychedelic feel, makes that sort of music breathe. I really wanna know what I need to do or buy to make this happen .

Thanks

Hi , with jjosxl you can assign the qlink control to anything you want in Ableton live .
I'm doing it right now.

1) make sure the midi port input (the one for the MPC) has the remote switched to ON , in ableton preferences .
2) make sure you selected the right midi output in the bottom right corner of the mpc main screen .
3) Go to qlink , select whatever midi CC AND assign it to the same MIDI output (under "change")

Then in ableton i guess you know what to do , click on MIDI then click on whatever that's enlighted in purple , move your qlink to assign it to the desired fonction and click once again on MIDI and....voilĂ .

It's been working great for me that way....

Cheers

Thanks mate , thats a great help. I can now manipulate all parameters in effects etc,
but I don't know how to record them. I have just had way too much fun for the last half hour using the q link sliders with the instruments in ableton and ni, I never thought I would ever figure it out, so I am stoked with that ! I must be doing something wrong
for ableton to be able to recognise my mpc, with the q link sliders and go into midi mapping and control parameters with such, sounding full of sqwelchy goodness,
YET unable to have the automation recorded , i am sure it is a click of a button..

Do you know where I went wrong?

I'm not looking at Ableton right nor do I have any of my MPC's wired in right now.

But try to create an External Instrument Track in Live for the MPC. It will house both audio and MIDI data, that might help to catch the automation. Otherwise I;ll have to look at Live with mu 1k attached.

So far I can't record them . My setup is mpc handshake with complete audio 6 , and the KA6 into my mac via usb. then I go out of the KA6 into a mixer. Do I have to take audio outs from my mpc into the inputs on the Komplete Audio 6 ? I have tried many ways and had no luck recording my tweaks of the q link sliders. The recorded sound played back is just wherever I last left the slider.

Thanks for both your help so far, I really appreciate it.

Sorry mate , don't know what you're talking about.... :hmmm:

He means MIDI handshake I would assume. As in properly synced with a MIDI slave/master arrangement setup. And the NI interface is plugged into the PC for USB Audio/MIDI. But I need him to tell his exact MIDI cable setup to guess what he may be doing wrong.

Again OP we have to know for sure you have a 5 pin MIDI cable going from the MPC's MIDI Out to the NI interface's MIDI In, that is able to be seen by Ableton. (Ableton options/View/Show Ins/Outs...)
