 users could customize their IO with whatever they could afford ... ADAT is industry standard stuff and Numark owns both Akai and Alesis ..

You already can use whatever AD/DA you want with MPC Software.

Akai already had ADAT IO on the MPC4000, so it is not new to them.

So users can go out and buy third party audio interfaces> thus this makes no sense for akai???... or whats your point??

We are talking about slapping few tiny optical IOs on the hardware, they own the frikking license.. (its not like it will raise the price much .. seams like a genuine move..

I would rather use a decent ADAT audio interface, such as RME, with lower latency than a crappy generic Akai Renaissance audio driver.

My point is that you can already use whatever interface you want, Behringer or $5k, and it can be ADAT/Thunderbolt/PCI/USB/whatever, while you are making that out to be some awesome new feature that implementing ADAT lightpipe I/O on the Renaissance would allow.

ADAT gets a little messy with higher sample rates cutting channel counts per port.

Thunderbolt is probably a better way to go now days.

So does the Ren support all the inputs from 3rd party interfaces in the software?

How many inputs and outputs does the ren software support again?

they can as easily slap a firewire on the new hardware and have total integration of 20 IO via ADAT, how hard can it be for Alesis/Akai to come up with capable drivers? ..

RME has solid drivers yes but their interfaces are above 1k .. I´d rather see this as an inexpensive option on a MK2 and buy 8 midas preamps at 350 or 16 at 700 vs spending much more on RME interface..

we are talking good marketing here, are we not??..

not even sure what drives have to do with this ... I dont deal with any drivers problems on my 4k .. there´s no latency on the ADAT part ... the ren has an audio interface it deals with its drives just as is, its not going to get worse just cause adat io is added..
