Hi, I have a MPC1000 and a M-audio Oxygen 25. The oxygen 25 have only an usb input, so I can't find any way to send the tones/sounds to Reason/MPC. I've also bought an USB to midi cable, that I've plugged from the MPC to my computer.

I want to use the keyboard for playing sounds to the MPC, but is that possible or do I have to use Reason for that? I've searched for hours, but couldn't find anything to help. :hmmm:

Thanks for your help.

I do things like that with Ableton.

I don't have Reason 7 which is the first version to have MIDI out, still on 6.5. So I have no idea how the MIDI routing is set up to direct an Out signal. Seems likely you could though. Shouldn't be too hard to look it up on the Propellerhead website.

Do want to send the MIDI note on/off messages from the keyboard, into the computer by USB, back out of the computer to the MPC by USB-MIDI cable, and play samples in the MPC from the keyboard, without using Reason?

If so, you could use a MIDI utility application, maybe something like MIDI Yoke or MIDI-OX on Windows, not sure on Mac, maybe you could use Apple Audio-MIDI Setup to route it?

Yeah I forgot old school MIDI-OX/MIDI Yoke style. Try the newer loopMIDI free app. MIDI-OX hasn't been updated in years. And on OS X the built in IAC MIDI functionality should work too.

And Reason 7 probably can do it if you're going to be using Reason anyway.

In Ableton they have the routing selection right on the MIDI channel strips and I often send MIDI that is coming in over USB to standard 5 pin MIDI cables hooked to MPC's and hardware synths.

MIDI rules.

Yeah, this is exactly what I want :) Thanks alot, I'll check out the loopMIDI app :)

Edit: The reason for using Reason though, is that Reason got built-in sounds/synthesizers that could be used with the keyboard. Is there any webpage that I could download pianosounds/synths, or would you recommend some other apps with built-in sounds?

Sorry for all these questions, this is new for me :)
