I'm sure that that num would be 10x just within these forums and 100x within small number reached outside. Hell, depending on feature set, I could see 5k prices rising, with me even likely buying another one back lol

To be quite honest. Akai owes an OS update to all us early adopters. The least they could do is fix the bugs in OS 2.0. We paid well over 1,000.00 for a pice of gear that they refuse to fix. As long as Akai treats its customers like this, I'll never buy another pice of gear from them.

I'm going to buy a Linn Drum 2 if it ever comes out and give a big :fku:
To Akai.

You're not alone in this line of thinking. I'm not exactly there. I still use the 5000 constantly. And although I was fortunate not to experience a lot of the issues that others report, things like midi timing annoys the heck out of me - so I'd love to see an update too. I still believe there's so much potential left on the table with the 5000.

But again, understand the frustration. Their development cycle is just too short. A couple of years on a project and they're on to something new. Suppose it's not much different from other hardware vendors though.

Would be freakin AWESOME to see a new hybrid MPC come out though. Wishful thinking, but would be nice!!!!

Sad, but true: We won't get an update from Akai by Akai on their own, that's why I've opened this thread as a donating place to pay the programmer on our behalf. This may be the only chance we have left regarding the 5000.
